The stigma really isn't that bad, depending on how you modify your car.

My car looks pretty much stock. Just lowered + 17s. I have never been hassled by the police, and even most of the ricers around town don't give the car too much of a 2nd look. The fmic gets more attention than anything.

If you're just buying one to look cool, then meh. They are fun cars and it's a shame to just stuff giant retardo sized wheels on it, beat the fenders up pulling them out, and hardpark at the local fast food joint.

^ it is that because there are not enough people with a brain building these cars, and those that do don't care about forums.

There is one great forum for these cars for someone who is actually interested on improving their s-chassis (and it's not centered around drifting, nowai!).

same here.. i was always a datsun/nissan guy until the fanboy crap show up. i sold my two s13 for my e30..if e30 do become the next drift machine then i'll be buying a volvo or datsun. it won't be happening though because e30 cost a grip.

^Yup, it's true. Soooo many beat cars right now.

I'm asking a bit too much for my coupe, but it's a bone stock car with 70k miles. Figured it would sell quick but I'm going to start dropping the price pretty soon..

exactly. budget of 240s allows the average highschool kid who knows nothing about cars but wants to "drift" buy one. thats why there is so many fucked up primered cars with ghetto swaps.

anyways im recapping on my pride and joy before my e30.
Such an awesome car. built this when my boss went to jail. lol we took over the shop. real shit.

there wa a kid here wanting 3k for a stock hatch. it was clean but with rust and nothing really done to it, 3k is steep

that being said, i want to make a track s13 like this sooner or later.

built NA KA24de(no one does it)
                  tanabe coilovers (the expensive ones)
                  spl arms, tie rods etc
                  pbm roll center kit
                  asp motorsport ebrake

                  8pt cage
                  crash bar
                  pignose front end
                  slicktop coupe

                  z33 brakes etc..

I'm not trying to pick on you, but that's the sort of setup that makes me cringe a tiny bit.

Ebay manifold, pulleys, meh wiring/vac line routing, ebay radiator and hoses.

Yeah, I know it all works (and I still have that shitty fmic too), but there's no reason to dumb the stock cast manifold, especially with a t25 (stock maf, so I figure it's not upgraded), or have the pulleys or anything else. Radiator upgrade, sure, but koyos aren't expensive, and that's the cheapest I would run (I have a griffin).

You're absolutely right though, these cars are cheap enough that any n00b idiot can get one and starting hacking it up.

i sold mine for 7k about 1 year ago. My car was really clean though compared to some of the hacked up cars i have seen in my day.

n/a ka24de??? i rather build a n/a ka24e(single cam FTW). i have seen more DE blow up then E, also the KA24E can take more abuse. it just need more aftermarket support.

There's a reason no one builds KAs -- check out Greaser's crazy n/a ka build. It made like 210whp and had thousands upon thousands invested.

I have done both KA-T and SR, plus my share of single and dual cam swaps. Dual cam KA is a much better motor (and I have a lot of love for kae since my ka-t was sohc) but stock for stock, the extra headflow is very nice indeed.

Back in 1996 Steve Cook who drove a Nissan prepared s14 in GT4 had a KA24e.. not DE.. When I asked him why nissan built him that motor instead of the KA24DE he said that the single cam produce more torque with the same horse power. KA do not suck, its the mechanic behind them.

                                lol ok.

Do you know anything about those motors? Giant cam, headwork for days, and running 13-14:1 compression. There is a ton of material that can be taken out of a ka24e head.

Those are 24hr motors -- that's 24hr lifespan. Yes, they're awesome, but no one is driving a built ka like that on the street and having it survive.

Greaser's build was pretty damned extreme for the street and still made 210whp.

edit: forgot to mention most of the racing ka24es also had sidedraft carbs.
