24-70 is awesome I've been using one for almost a year now and I love it.
Canon has published a patent on the 24-70 2.8L IS! so that should be coming soon. Prolly at least $2,000.

Damn, I had heard about that. Still though, this is very nice lens. I will be shooting a small wedding and some family christmas shots soon and thought this would work perfectly for that! :)
I have a lot more shots too... I'll have to do some editting on them and post them up. :)
If you can manage, it may not be a bad idea to send the body along in with it.
Lenses are made to a spec of +/- X degree of error.
Camera bodies are made to a spec of +/- X degree of error.
You can see that if your lens falls on the + extreme and the body on the - extreme there could be a problem. Of course this doesn't happen often, but from my reading this seems to be a lot of the focusing issues. Something to think about.
