I think that shot is better than the others you posted. I so wish I had the opportunity to shoot the aurora. Eh, someday.

A few 4th of July fireworks shots.









I was shooting these from over a mile away (across San Francisco Bay, from Ft Baker) there was somewhat of a marine layer that was making focusing difficult.

Thanks yeah longer exposure much much much lower ISO made all the difference in the world

I was too busy to try for the fireworks the other night, Despite the little focal issues, those look really nice I them

Well now that i have started to follow this thread more I am going to post up some shots for people to provide their opinions for.... Ill take it all good or bad.

A little insight as to what I am looking for out of this post haha. Other then the obligatory dick comments hahaha I want some feed back on the shots. Thoughts, changes, and how you would do it. The local photo scene here is good but everyone acts like they are guarding the covenant...... so yeah.

As far as what I have. d80 that i picked up about 6 months ago and it is my first camera.

That's a nice shot sleeve. I prefer that one as well. I think you could try doing some longer exposures for star trails and blending them in if you have another go at this. I think you use the light blending mode in PS... I think that's what the right move is... I think...

I broke out the infrared filter and played around with it a little.



both of those are a little soft, but they are hand held, and the camera was having trouble focusing due to it being a very dark filter.
