Just imagine the implications if an alien race did make public contact with Earth. Assuming that the powers that be could not cover it up and explain it away...
Religion would crumble, mass rioting, mass suicides, marshal law... People would not know WTF to do. And that's not even counting whatever actions the aliens might take. Assume they are here to wipe us out...everyone would be so mindfucked at the time that we wouldn't stand a chance.

Then again..the conspiracy theorist in me thinks that disclosure could very easily be faked as a sort of "false flag" event, as a means of control..unite humanity, or an excuse for another war:

those near it were simply affected by it and therefore did not visually register the event/flash, those further away were able to catch this event, with their respective electronic devices rendering the flash...

Maybe the beatles music we blasted into space so many years back finally reached them and they were like "Wtf was that?" "I don't know lets check it out?" flew out in their space pod and coincidently ended up in Jerusalem. Possible story.

I was thinking that the guy in the foreground of the first video is the 'second' video's footage source. over that distance it would be extremely hard to tell a different angle.

its not that far of a distance, and not hard to tell if you know the area:D
