So check this out. One of my good friends is/was "dating" this girl. My friend is 17, and will be turning 18 in May. The girl he is/was "dating" is 14. She pretty much looks her age, aswell as he. They both didnt want to tell their parents because of the age gap. Somehow the girls dad got ahold of her phone and found out about it. Heres where it gets interesting. Her dad is a cop. I guess he was the happiest camper when he found out. He called my friend a couple nights ago and told him that he is willing to press charges against him if he doesnt leave his daughter alone. Now heres where my question comes in. As he was telling me this story, I was thinking to myself how would he be able to press charges against him if it is a minor/minor thing? Yeah he'll be 18 in a couple months, but he isnt right now. Is this even possible?

CLIFFS: Girl is 14, dude is 17 and will be 18 in a couple months. Were dating, girls dad found out and he is a cop, wants to press charges on the dude. Is that possible?

age of consent in CA is 18, since they are both minors in he eyes of the law Both should be prosecuted as (if they were fucking) as both had sex with a minor. with a misdemeanor being the max penalty as there was not more than 3 years difference between the major and the minor ages. As the acts in question would have occured when he was 17 and him turning 18 in may has NO bearing on this situation

Since her pops is a cop, and if he has proof they are fucking and he want to be a dick, then yeah hes prolly screwed.


On that note I was watching a thing a while back where there is guy that is on the sex offender registry for a similar situation, BUT the kicker is that he and his G/F of the time (parents pressed the charges) been together even though all that got married and have 3 kids but the courts will not expunge the record

three years younger than the perpetrator, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
(c) Any person who engages in an act of unlawful sexual
intercourse with a minor who is more than three years younger than
the perpetrator is guilty of either a misdemeanor or a felony, and
shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one
year, or by imprisonment in the state prison.

It's called the "Romeo and Juliet" law, dealing with minors have consensual relations with each other. The penalty differs from state to state and the judicial system does recognize this scenario, however it is still considered an offense and your buddy could get a maximum one year sentence.

Coincidentally I had a friend in a similar situation years ago; she was the younger of the two and her father was also a police officer. He threatened her boyfriend at the time with statutory rape and he took off real quick. Broke her heart but hey, sucks to be 15.

Glad that someone agrees some what... I listen to it because I honestly love it. Listening to a type of music to be cool or a badass is dumb.
