Rob i realize that those are also very important issues that this country needs to deal with. I also realize that burning flags is something a very small minority takes hold of. The implications, however, ARE very important. This could be related to how people feel about stem cell research....they feel that ground that is given to the proponents of embryonic stem cell research is pulling us closer and closer to hitler-esque science and gross overstepping of moral ground regarding the sanctity of life. To me, banning flag burning would be one step closer to censorship. Yes flag burning is extreme and most of the time staged, but it IS a nonviolent form of expression. Just because some people dont agree with it doesnt mean it needs to be banned. What if those "flag burning hippies" were the majority and said "sorry Matt, we dont like your opinons, your going to jail"? "Oh wait, thats totally different Ian!" No the fuck it isnt. The great thing about the US is just because you live here, you dont have to like everything about it, and are free to tell and show others why you dont like it.

Banning flag burning would be a step in a terribly WRONG direction.

Poor Sanda O apparently fought till the end regarding the ED case.

Don’t roll your eyes at me boy... the government relies on voting to understand what their population believes about certain policies. I'm pretty sure they don’t' rely on internet rants..

If you really want to complain about this, and it just gets your blood boiling knowing that you can't burn any more flags, why don't you try doing something about it rather than complaining on an internet forum.

People who get frustrated by the government’s policies, and do nothing about it but complain, are just adding to their own problems.

I for one don't give a flaming fuck if someone wants to burn a flag. I do however believe it to be a disrespectful and shameful way of protesting.

No shit? I thought voting was to see what flavor blow-pop they come out with next year? A deep thinker, yea?

Im organizing a bake sale as we speak.

Wasnt it something like 50% of the US did NOT vote in the past election? Im fairly certain that those 80 million people have some political views as well. But, if they did not use their right to express those views through voting, then it is their loss. The government still needs to figure out ways to involve more people in voting and/or get people more interested in what happens to their country. So many people are politically apathetic now. It must be strange for you, Peter, to speak to someone that has differing opinions from you and not try and insult them.

Once again, get over yourself.

Note: sarcasm does not translate through written words; it doesn’t matter how many trailing dots are used to simulate pauses...

As far as getting over myself:
Perhaps you should step off your little political high horse. I didn't realize i was talking to Jay Severn's avatar. I am merely expressing my opinion of your opinion.

If you think that making it illegal to burn a flag is going to eventually turn into banning confederate flags, I would say that you don’t' have to worry. There are many more flag flyers than burners...

Rolling your eyes at me does nothing more than make you seem like a pompous asshole. <--opinion

And the government has been working on getting people to vote. It’s extremely difficult to get those who are uneducated to the polls. Not to mention that the vast amounts of people who don't vote don't exactly have the same interests; they can't be targeted by one pro-vote campaign.

                                2) Was the confederate flag reference a shot at me living in North Carolina?
