    24V swapped e30 vs. e90 325i

Kinda weird, but I figured that I'd set myself a little goal.
I'm trying to get my 91 318i/4 to be able to outrun my pop's 06 325i/4.
I plan on doing a 24 swap sometime in the near future, but at this point, I'm the preliminary stage, trying to figure what I need (thanks 24v forum ;)).
But realistically, do you guys think a n/a, m5x/s5x swapped car will have the potential to beat a e90 325i off the line?

S50 will murder it. M50 will still beat it.

        YES.

It has like 215hp. You have less weight. And a 5 speed

M5x's arent that quick. then again, neither are E90 325's.

e90 325i runs high 14s. you're going to need at least 190hp in your e30. so an m50 would work. especially a cammed m50 with an exhaust, and maybe a chip.

If i would do another swap, I would just go s52 obd1. M52 is a nice jump over an m42 but you'll always wish you would have saved up a few more benjamins and picked up that s50/52.

                  That's great to hear guys.
Generally speaking, what would be your choice for engine, if you were about to be a college student, who's very money conscious?
That said, are M50's the cheapest usually?

Dude, you've been around long enough to know this shit?

                    It's common sense right...

s52 obd1 is obviously far and away the cheapest...

If you're about to be a college student stick with what you got and make sure the maintenance is up to date. If you have some cash to burn think about an m5x, an s5x is really where it's at though, I mean a stock m50 is barely any more powerful than an m20b25.

If you really wanna impress find an s50b32 or an s54 then look out!

Uhh...no. I've seen 24V builds and such, but I've never really investigated too far out of the M42. I never really looked much into the specifics of m5x vs s5x, other than knowing that one belongs on M cars, and one not.

So take a guess which one is cheaper... ;)

m50 non vanos is obviously the cheapest.

In my opinion save and go s50 with the way prices are going. I had an m52, I'm going s50 right now. m52 was plenty of fun and i wouldn't have switched if it wasn't for the engine overheating.

take a ride in a swapped e30 and you will realize they are freaking fast, much faster than the pig that is an e90 325i.
