Aaaahhh. I see, did not even know the first one was a 7. That makes sens though because after shocks are often stronger then the original shock.
I read yesterday that they are expecting a second strong quake.

I was watching the news last night, and apparently the plant is no longer "visible," meaning it blew up or something. They showed clips from before all the problems with it really started and then current pics, and the building is no longer there. But even though the building is gone, they are trying to say that the nuclear whatever is still in tact and there is no radiation. Ehhh, I'm not believing that so much.

You need to read more and watch less TV news. the outter building is just a shell, and it's meant to explode outwards if it fails. the reactor itself is contained in steel vessel, and is not the same as the outter building that collapsed. so far it appears the steel vessel is fine.

The steel vessel is only fine so long as you can keep water flowing through it. I don't think anything was meant to explode at the nuclear power plant. The operators failed to ventilate the building because it was too dangerous for anyone to go inside. The explosions at unit 1 and 3 have damaged the cooling system at unit 2 which up until yesterday was still safe. At this point the fuel rods are exposed at unit 2 which could cause a third hydrogen explosion if they don't manage to open a hole in the roof. Who wants to volunteer for that job?
Tokyo Electric Power Company is battling to cool a reactor to prevent another explosion at its nuclear power plant in quake-hit Fukushima Prefecture.

The utility firm said on Monday afternoon that fuel rods are exposed at the Number Two reactor of its Fukushima Number One plant after the level of coolant water dropped. At around 6:20pm, the power company began pumping in seawater.

Tokyo Electric says it had to halt the process due to fuel loss for the pumping system, possibly leaving the fuel rods in the reactor exposed. The firm says a core meltdown might have occurred.

The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency says that pumping seawater into the reactor is working now.

Earlier in the day, the firm told the government that the reactor had lost all cooling capability due to a failure of the emergency power system.

Since then, the company has tried to circulate the coolant by steam instead of electricity. But attempts to lower the temperature inside the reactor chamber have not worked well.

The company is also considering opening a hole in the reactor housing building to release hydrogen generated by the exposed fuel rods.

Accumulated hydrogen has caused blasts at two other reactors at the plant.

Well, I rarely watch tv as it is, and when I do I NEVER watch the news. I'd rather quickly hear and see what's going on then spend hours researching it. Either way even if they do say the vessel is fine, there's always the fact the government tells us shit we want to hear so the public doesn't shit themselves and run around like chickens with their heads cut off.

The Fukushima crisis now rates as a more serious accident than the partial meltdown at Three Mile Island in the US in 1979, and is second only to the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, according to the French nuclear safety authority. After insisting for three days that the situation was under control, Japan urgently appealed to US and UN nuclear experts for technical help on preventing white-hot fuel rods melting.

                      Things must be going well.

Don't you think the real problem is the gov officials that have said all along that the situation is under control when it clearly isn't?

                          From the BBC
2311: The news agency said the blast was heard at 0610 local time on Tuesday (2110 GMT Monday). No other details were immediately announced.
2308: An explosion is heard at Fukushima's second reactor, the Kyodo news agency reports.

Well the second reactor just exploded.. 4 times more nuclear radiation. Those poor people. The ones who do survive I feel bad for. Chances are they're all going to have some sort of cancer sooner or later. Does anyone else find it odd that Japan accepted help with food, water, and everything else, but continuously declined our and other countries expert teams to help shut down the reactors? Doesn't make sense, unless they have something to hide.
