    that is bullshit

fuel tanks are sealed with EVAP systems, no loss to fuel vapors

Yep, very true on both counts.

Also, the reason the roofs on gasoline storage tanks are 'floating' is to prevent any buildup of oxygen/air in the tank that could spark a fire. It has nothing to do with evaporation.

93 octane is about 4.91 in my area yesterday, I am sure it went up 5 cents over the night though. The most it went up one night was 15 cents. Fucking idiots.

Lol  Something like that, yes.
They are talking about doubling the prices, 'cause of the pollution in the wintermonths.

I want to fill 98 octane, but it's even more expensive. My Mini always get 98, though.

Who pumps the oil out of the North Sea? We do. Who's got the most expensive gas? We do. Makes no sense.

The use a different rating sysytem there, so it's not like 95 octane would be here.

                  We use RON+MON/2= octane rating

we don't have ANY refinerees in america anymore, why? as cartman would say, "the tree hugging hippies made us get rid of them"

so we ship our oil else where, then it gets refined, then shipped back!
                    that is dumb!

                          wow. i've been making mistakes.

i always fillup in the middle of the day.
i always put it in fast mode.
i always wait for my tank to be empty to fill up.

                            I live near this plant

You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

You might have a lower evaporation rate per minute but you're spending more time with your fuel cap open while pumping so lower rate x longer time and you end up with the same thing. Except you just wasted another 5 minutes at the pump.
