I would skip the 84. There are some smart guys who have already replied to you, and I agree with them.
Although I have never done it, the 5 speed swap is supposed to be real easy. Some guys even PAY SOMEONE ELSE to do it, which to me means it must be easy (because we all only end up doing stuff ourselves, if it cost too much to pay someone else to do it)
A late model 190e is a REALLY nice looking and driving car, and if you just have to have a 5 speed, that would be a unique car.Last edited by Hellabad; 03-29-2011, 09:45 AM.Here is my photo gallery answering common questions about Ground Control Suspension, and e30 suspension problems in general.

Sorry APM, "overpriced" isn't the right word, just using what had already been said. IMHO a nice 16v certainly should have some value, just meant that they are an order of magnitude more expensive than 2.6/2.3's when in nice condition. Great pics BTW, hadn't seen those pics yet on the rev! $2200 is an awesome deal, though I suppose auto had something to do with it......not a bad thing for a DD though, especially since you have the M3 now as well. As for maintenance, my point was simply that parts can be expensive if you aren't going for autohausaz specials, so one might want to factor that in. That being said, I spent much more money maintaining my C43 than I have for either the 190e or the M3e92 M3

Needs rear shock mount bushings and a few dings and scratches attended to, but very little rust ( damn license plate lights). Drove it 3hrs home and it purrs like a kitten and pulls like a tiger and made me forget owning a Benz!
Thanks all for your help though.

I've read that it's difficult to find a nice 190 or 300e with a manual transmission. Was the manual transmission model specific, or was it used in other vehicles as well? If one with the same casing was used in multiple models, it'd be easier to find a compatible one I'm assuming.I do what I want
