I saw the breaking coverage on the news this morning before work. Pretty shocking. My thoughts are with those who were injured, and with the families of those who lost loved ones. It will be indeed interesting to see what course of action Tony Blair and the UK take following this tragedy.
On a lighter and somewhat related note, just a few nights ago in fact, Comedy Central aired the episode of South Park where the boys go to Afghanistan, and Cartman gets chased around by Osama Bin Laden like a Bugs Bunny cartoon for the whole episode. I was dying of laughter, one of the best episodes ever.
Today's events in London serve as a harsh reminder that as long as the terrorists exist, no one is safe. The same thing can happen to any city with an underground rail system (LA, San Fran, NY, Tokyo, Hong Kong, etc.) It only takes a few of these thugs strapped with bombs to walk in some place and flick a switch. Until we rid society of them, we will always have the potential to see a repeat of today's attack.
To those who died today...rest in peace.

Do you really think terrorists have no cause? Perhaps any group that is fighting what they beleive in should be "gotten rid of" without concern for what they want. The Western way of life must be the correct way of living, right? I mean there is no inherent threat to anyone's individuality or personal beleifs(*ahem* jihad *ahem*) because of globalization. Perhaps reading Jihad Vs. McWorld will enlighten the masses that think like you.
Look at me, i don't live in fear. stupid me.

Good thing all those rock stars are helping to feed the hungry in Africa!
Hmm more people die per year in Africa due to starvation than 9/11 Madrid bombings and this incident.. Maybe it doesn't matter because they aren't consumers.. right?
As a human being living on this planet today, you have a choice. You can either:
A. Spend the rest of your life scared of your mail, airplanes, the subway, the Arab man you saw in the supermarket, bombs, cardboard knives, and so on and so on...
B. Spend the rest of your life living the rest of your life, and accepting the fact that human beings are not perfect. We disagree. We have different beliefs, convictions, values, morals, ethics and ideas.
There is always going to be conflict and war. There will be casualties on both sides, and they will include soldiers, friends, mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, children and the innocent. People try to convince themselves that one day, the world will become some sort of "Zion" and all the human beings of the planet will sing in harmony and joy. I'm sorry, but it's just not going to happen. One of the things that makes us human beings is the fact that we are different. Sometimes differences only go as far as an argument, sometimes they go much, much further. I'm not excusing terrorist actions, and I'm not condoning violence. I'm saying that you can make a choice of how you live your life, and what you choose to do with it. Others have made their choice, and we have to make ours.

Completely Off Topic, but...
Maybe if all the people donating money to African countries donated it to groups willing to overthrow Africa's corrupt governments, some of the aid would actually filter down to the people who need it. More than enough aid goes to Africa IF it was actually getting past the corrupt governments that trickle it out to the masses. You don't burn more money in a boiler to heat a drafty house; you spend the money to fix the leaks. The management in most of the African nations needs to be changed before any amount of aid will have the desired effects...
