Off topic, but I recommend everyone here try unhomogenized milk. Regular milk tastes so bland compared to this stuff. I've read multiple times that rates of heart disease shot through the roof when they started selling homogenized milk way back when. There is some kind of fat in milk that is not good for the heart that is normally passed right through without absorption, but the homogenization process breaks it up and allows it to be absorbed in digestion. I don't have a definitive source for this info, but I'm sold on the taste alone.Comment

On that note, at my last physical, when they asked what do I eat, I told them mostly pork and milk, and my cholesterol is still fantastic.
For the record, that 1/2 GPD I drink is all whole milk.

yes one of the perks of growing up on the farm. Grew up on 100% whole milk right off the bulk tank in the milking parlor. None of that pasteurized homogenized shit you get from the store.

BTW, I'm Lactose Intolerant as all sorts of fuck get out. I CANNOT drink milk from a Grocery Store. I can however drink a 1/2gal. of raw milk every day with no ill affects. I swear by it. If I could suggest anything to anyone, look into finding someone that co-op's raw milk. For about $25/mo. you can get 4-6gal, plus who knows about the raw cream (even more amazing...) and change your life. I make cheeses, yogurts, buttermilk, etc. out of the milk I get.
It goes great with the free range eggs out of the chicken-house each morning.
Oh, and don't get me started on goat's milk and cheeses...Comment

What's it like getting un-pasteurized milk in the U.S.?
I grew up on raw goat's milk until the age of ten, my parents used to sell it. Selling un-pasteurized milk in Canada is quite against the law apparently and they always had to be careful about it.
