Do you live at home with a parent? I spend 300 (at the store) on my food each month, and it all goes into my belly.

"Core" monthly expenses? Is this just bills and stuff, or EVERYTHING you spend in a month?

if it is everything, my TOTAL monthly spending I struggle to keep under $3500. That is the total amount of money that exits my bank account per month.

That's with wife and 2 year old daughter and a rental house.

yup, my dad lives here too but he doesn't cook at all and eats out. What food i/we buy is only eaten by my GF and myself. I go grocery shopping every 7-10 days and each trip comes out to 80-100 buying all 'great value' brand stuff.

                              Probably:

                              Rent
                              Food
                              Gas
                              Insurance
                              Phone
                              Internet?

Those are usually what you need now a days to "survive".
