Unions actually suck. They are good for people who have served their time because they have regulated pay scales. However you lose the option of moving beyond your trade. You become a pipefitter you die a pipefitter. Now saying that person makes 25% more than the engineer is just rediculous. If that was the case mosty union workers would be driving porsches. Not only that but their high pay hurts them in states that dont have strict pro-union regulations, like Kansas. Here since "merit shops" can actually pay people based on how they perform they can save money on idiots and pay the ones who produce the most. Therefore its easier to bid lower and have a job make money. We get many ex union guys in our communications division because they are tired of losing work to merit shops like us.

I also am not conservative but I tend to vote that way although with all this god in politics I might have to take my chances with the communists. "It takes a village to raise a child" is bullshit. In india it is the case but they also kill the woman if she keeps having girls. Actually, maybe we could make something of this.

Sorry, I didn't mean union workers as whole make more than others. However, in a similar position a union worker will make more. Granted most people in positions which offer unions don't really make that much to begin with...
