no i was covered by MY m/c coverage, my mother's health car plan, and all the co-pays were picked up by his HMO.
i got really lucky that 3 different policies covered me, so as one would say "only paying this amount" the next policy i was on would pick up the rest.

i think the most money spent throughout the whole thing was paying to get the bike outa the tow yard almost $600 because it was in there almost a week while i was in hospital and not really thinking about it.

But, his HMO did pay part of your bills, and he does pay the premium. So you live with Mom on the East Coast, and Dad on the West Coast doesn't do anything for you or his other four kids except pay for medical insurance? While you lived with him, did he provide for you? If so, you are already ahead of a lot of others, and you'll have to accept real quick, regardless of this thread, that life is not fair. Knowing that as early as you do, (before adulthood) should just empower you to do that much better, the deck is stacked against you, everyone else is out to get you, and doing everything in your power knowing that is about the best you can do at the end of the day.

You should be given the option to get your dad as a co-signer for a student loan. That should get you as much FAFSA money you'll need to get some schooling. You can also get private loans but I would stay away as the interest rate could get high. APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS!!!! People are giving away money, something you will see as your peers are getting thousands toward school, from random people, for only writing a letter and getting some references.
