last night was grad night for many teenagers, my friend joe and dustin had just graduated from high school with there lifes ahead of them, joe had a celebration at his house with some of my friends, he invited me but i told him i was busy (wish i didn't)
anyways very very late on in the night my friend joe got into his small 80's toyota pick-up with my other friends dustin and leif, dustin took the middle seat and leif was in the passengers seat, all of them drunk. i have no idea where they were headed but along the way on a windy country side road in the napa valley hills they lost control around a corner and collided with a tree. my friend joe is in juvenile hall, my friend dustin is thankfully alright, but as for my friend leif he was on the side of the car that hit the tree, he was taken to the queen of the valley hospital in napa just a short distance from my house, his brain was swelling and they had to releive pressure in his skull, they put him in a helicopter and sent him to a hospital in SF with a well renowned brain surgery unit. he is currently in comma and were all waiting for him to wake up.... real fucked up how just like that two lifes could be lost/ruined. please don't drink and drive you're not only putting yourself in danger but others.

Very sad story. Yes life can change fast and its sad to see bad things happen to a young person with life ahead of them. Sadly at the expense of your friend I hope your others have learned a life lesson. Though that is the reason you have to be 21 first but no one should drink and drive.

Sad story, I hope they recover. If you drink and drive, you are an idiot and should never be allowed to drive again. Ever. The problem is Darwin doesn't always win, and the drunk driver usually ends up killing an innocent bystander rather than killing themselves.

Maybe I'm a bit biased, what with a family history of alcoholism and drunk driving/resulting fatalities and all.

Now copy and print that out and paste it to whatever moron friend of yours drove. I am not sorry for any of them, they fucking knew they were drunk before they drove. EACH and EVERYONE of them are responsible for what happened.

I am glad they are kinda ok, hope the badly hurt guy pulls through. I will be praying for him. I know what it is like to have someone in a comma, my little brother was in one for 5 months after getting hit by a truck that ran a red light.

sorry and hope everything works out. that said imo a point 08 is a little low for being legaly intoxicated. it should be raised to a .10 like the old days. tell me how dosen't have a beer and drive home from time to time. how many cars do you see in your local watering hole's parking lot on any given night? 20 ? 30? don't get me wrong, i am in no way advocating drinking and driving but the fact remains that most of us do have a couple then drive home. i don't know the answer. maybe we should start holding the taverns more reponsable than they are now. colect keys and only give them back after some kind of sobriety test. as for your friends i hope all works out. young people drinking has gone on since alcohole has bin discovered and will continue to. it's just the nature of the beast. all we can do is to try to educate, do our best as parents, and pray that yuo and your loved ones are not one of the statistics we read and hear about EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DAY. well sorry for the rant guys.

Sorry to hear this man. Now it's on you to make sure you never let anyone get into/onto any kind of vehicle (even a bicycle) when they are intoxicated. Do whatever you have to do to stop them, because a lot of people become violent and angry when you try to tell them not to drive or try and persuade them to take a cab or go with a friend.

The only time I got behind the wheel while I was drunk was to move my car from the street into my garage because there was a hailstorm on the way...and I had quite a bit of difficulty managing that. I don't know why people think they can drive drunk.
