tips? stay in the "good" part of town (boulevard de revolution) and remember that you can always talk the sellers down. and dont mess with the mexican police because from what i hear, mexican prisions suck. oh yeah, dont take pictures of the us border patrol officers and dont try to bring a knife back across. i found out the hard way. hf.

TJ where do you surf down in florida? A friend of mine has a place in melbourne, so i went there twice last winter and got some good surf at sebastians and a few of the places along the highway there. We had 10 days of consistant chest high waves, which everyone said was pretty rare for florida surf.

Also, i'm heading out to san diego this december and probabally driving south into mexico, i'm sure some of you socal guys have done the trip, anyone have any good stories or tips?

I go to school right on the water in West Palm Beach, so my home break over there is Reef Road, which I think is probably the best break in FL. We had some amazing swells last winter, like this:





It got up to about 12ft. with offshores that day. Lots of fun for goofy footers like me.

Haha, yesterday I was on the north coast and I could see Jaws from shore.

Surfing is one of the only boardsports I haven't accomplished yet. Iowa is about as far away from surf as you can get in the continental U.S. Although I have heard of guys surfing Lake Michigan. I wakeboard but I bet the sensation is totally different than surfing. I'd imagine surfing is more similar to snowboarding in deep powder.

I'd really like to try kiteboarding. On the local chain of lakes here there is some kite riders. Iowa is so damn flat. It tends to get really windy here.

Surfing and snowboarding are opposites. Surfing is lead with the front foot and snowboarding is lead with your back foot, so I hear the transition between the 2 can be hard. I will tell you after this winter when I see snow again for the first time in 18 years :)

ive tried surfing at New Smyrna, but i suck and almost bbroke my neck by getting to close to the shore and the tip hitting the sand and it send me flying head first.

But im trying to get back out again to try once more, but i dont have any friends that surf.
