Friday July 29th was Matt's birth-day. Matt opened his eyes and spoke. He has since been removed from the ICU and is in a private room where my mother has room to stay and relax with him. He is doing very well considering the extent of his injuries.
At one point while in the ICU they had a cranial pressure monitor in the ventricle of his brain to monitor the severity of his brain injury. As he was leaving the ICU, one nurse told us she had never seen some one with this pressure monitor in their head wake up and talk.
              This made Friday his Rebirth-day.

He is lucid and mostly coherent while showing strong signs of his personality. Today physical therapy came in and had him sitting up on the edge of the bed and standing for a few minutes. Along with physical therapy he is also going to need some "occupational life skills therapy".

Everyone who cares for him at the hospital cannot believe his current positive condition only a week after the accident.

Until Friday I considered myself and agnostic borderline atheist. This is truly a miracle and on Friday Matt made a believer out of me.

Thanks for all your support and prayers. I honestly believe they had a major role in bringing him to where he is today. Keep praying for and keeping him in your thoughts. I'll update again soon.

Excellent news!!! I remember therapy, dont let him quit on it. I hated it, it is a total drag to goto, BUT THEY HELP SO MUCH. Hope things improve - Andrew

BTW Matt is continuing to progress forward in his recovery. He is now on the inpatient physical therapy floor. 3 hours a day of physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. He still has a long way to go. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear man. Good that he seems to have pulled through reasonably well. The human body is an amazing machine, it is incredible what it can recover from.

If this ever happended to someone I loved and they found the guy I would run him over I would not care for the consiquences.
