      Update!

This is Matt the day after his accident.

This is Matt today in rehab! He is nothing short of a miracle!

His discharge date is currently set for the 24th of August. The therapists are telling him and us that on that date he will be able to walk, get dressed and feed himself by that date. It seems optimistic to me at this point. But today was a pretty good day and his progress seems to get faster all the time.

Thanks again for all your prayers.
      He has truly been blessed.

      Namaste

Last pic is way closer than I ever want to get to a man!!

But good to see mate, glad he is recovering and good to see. Never nice seeing family like in the first two pics and good to see you care about him the way you do
Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

              :-)

Thanks for the good words boys! I'm doing great. I was in the hospital for 7 weeks it sucked but everyone there was really nice and helped me a great deal. I was fucked up I have a broken neck and back all of the bones in the right side of my face were broke all the ribs on my left side were broke I had a brain injury my left shoulder blade was shattered I have 3rd dagree burns on my back and on both calfs both my lungs were full of blood and a ruptured spleen. I will go back to work on August 1st. I missed out on a year of my life. I hope you all learn from this, I was only going to lunch from work two miles down the ride, there is no helmet law in Texas so I wasn't wearing one... Don't make the same mistake

Great advice on the helmet thing. I myself don't wear a helmet for street biking, but I do on a motorbike or on BMX jumps.

A couple years ago I happened to be wearing a helmet when I lost control about 8 feet off the ground and fell straight onto my face. I broke my nose, jaw (well almost), ripped the inside of my mouth literally to shreds, and was unconscious until I was on a stretcher, and then many times again after that. It's nothing close to Matt's accident, but the fact that I happened to be wearing a helmet likely saved me from major brain injuries.

I know it's kind of a weak story, but I'd just like to reiterate the importance of helmets, and even a shitty helmet can save you from so much.

Is it safe to assume you weren't wearing a full face helmet?

Yes, just a bmx skull helmet. Although, the added weight of a full face helmet might have damaged my neck more.
