    Your favorite charity! Please add!

    Guys, Gals,

We are entertaining doing a raffle/donation for my E30 M3. In order to even think of doing this we need to find a worthy charity for the donations. I would like to use the E30 community as they are the most likely to donate for a chance to win the car.

Please post up and also remark if you know pro's and con's of the charities listed.

I have donated in the past to Children's, Red Cross and a local event “Cruise for the cure"

    Thank you,

    Tyler

Im in the process of doing something similar and this is what Ive learned.
The 2 CEO's of the cancer society make approx 1.8 million combined
About 10% of the money raised actually goes to research. Not sure if these figures are dead on accurate but if so its rather depressing. I would like to find some needy military family with children and make a difference

I'm assuming you want something local to donate to? Look up Stollery Children's hospital if not.

Also, some other ideas might be a Youth Emergency Shelter, Womens shelter, etc. Something that doesn't necessarily get recognized for donations all that often. Obviously it's never bad to donate to cancer or something, but they already have SO much support. It would be cool to see it go somewhere that the money will really make a big difference, you know?

e30tech does/did a fund raising event for a forum members family. He passed away from I think cancer. That would be a nice local charity who would really feel the impact.

Yup Children's is a great place. I have been going there for over a decade for my leg problems... I had an extreme case of an ultra rare bone disease.

how about one of your local rotary clubs?
whatever is raised goes 100% to charity, no overhead
all members volunteer their time and $ to local charitable events for the local community
plus rotary international has two big goals, eradication of polio (which is agonizingly close) and clean drinking water, two worthwhile goals
plus many times the local club can be matched on what they raise by rotary international for things they do
                    no money is wasted
