Masochist man.
If it's got a VW badge on it or in it, and the engine's not in the back, run away.

Take a 15 yr old mk2, compair to a 2001 A4. I think i may run into a few less problems.

So your saying catastrophic driveline failure will happen because I buy an audi? One that will only get 3k miles a year or so on it? Well maintained as well? I think that saying that just because of the reputation of the brand that it will fail is a poor conclusion.

trust me I have been down the Audi road and saw the light and it said "bmw my son, bmw!"
* First car - Ford Tempo... piece of shit pure and simple. If I had the money I would buy every single one still in existance and crush them. Most are already dead though.
* Second car - '95 VW Jetta - not a bad car really... was a base model so not much could go wrong.
* Third car - brand new 2000 VW Golf 1.8T. window regulators broke 600 miles away from warranty expiration. Driving at 60 mph and the passenger side window just dropped like a stone inside the door. Fun!
* Fourth car - brand new 2002 Audi TT. Worst car ever. Had it for 10 months. Replaced window regulators about 10 times under warranty, 7 in a matter of 6 weeks. Sued Audi under lemon law and won.
* BMWs ever since... aside from minor oil gasket leak problems, no other problems except for the ones that I made for myself.
BMWs aren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but if you are looking for something that can handle bad weather, get a Jeep or something. Audi quattros suck and that is from personal experience. S4 can lick my testies... all three of them.
edit: plus internet community support for VW/Audi sucks.
