Personally, I just think Europe in general doesn't have the same Self-consciousness that America seems to have.

My mom is 100% Greek and she is a very blunt/direct person. And I have learned here recently that it has rubbed off on me through the kind words of several ex's and my current.

This is was also very evident with just about any foreigner I had classes with in college. They were usually never bashful to speak their mind and be themselves.

I use to read and post on here in r3vlimited, and aswell on a german E30 website (E30-Talk.com).
However, over time and reading through alot of threads and car builds in here, I came to one point that seems interesting to me.

Somehow I belive a huge difference between the german and american or international E30 websites (talking about r3vlimited now) is the way people rate or comment on other peoples work.

First of all, dont get me wrong, ok?
I have huge respect of all peoples work in here on their cars, sometimes our hobby can be really exhausting and hard at times, its not easy to repair and take care of old cars, especially our all loved E30.

But sometimes I'm not sure if the americans are honest on comments they post here.
Now what this thread is about, I think that in the german board, you recive alot more of criticism, no matter what kind of work you do / show in threads from your car.

I'm not just talking about my car, but about almost all cars that people present.
Not saying that users would call the cars all bad, just more points that, in their opinion, need to be changed or fixed, and so on.
While in the US boards, its more like, wow nice work, perfect shit dude...

So, I'm not trying to say that anyone should change their behaviour in here, just that its what always seems to be a huge difference in how people communicate on two E30 boards, that share the same threads and topics.

      Any thoughts on that?

And :wgaf: about my grammar... :D
You also have to recognize that people here can do whatever they want with their cars and all of us know that. Sure just because the car doesn't fit into what Vlad or some Scandinavian would build doesn't mean that its wrong or bad. Maybe you should stop being so german? ;)

I thought you were going to say R3v is too dickish, which is what most of the short-term members think. Though I think there is a difference between being a dick and a troll and being honest, so I get what you are saying.

Americans are generally pussies when it comes to criticism. Most don't have good tastes when it comes to modding their cars either. Its always very budgetary and they have a hard time grasping that sometimes "less is more."

I always thought this place was harsh on peoples rides! I know we tamed down a little here. But alot of people dont like it here cause it was too in your face on how people feel. I dont go on any german sites but have been on many other car sites and this place is the most "honest" (in terms on how one feels about anothers ride) place i've seen. i gotta wonder what the german sites are like lol

                                I think r3v just has a lot of nut-swingers and post-whores. It's a bad combo.

Their numbers have pretty much tripled in the past year or so.
