The draft looms large guys. I just think there are better things we could be spending our resources on and don't think the youth of america needs to be blown up a world away for phantom weapons of mass destruction.
Personally, I think a draft would be good for the country about right now. I've noticed something about this current generation of youth. there's a really sickening sense of complacency, entitlement, and a general disinterest in anything outside of their computers, cell phones, or other stupid material things. Getting shot at would change a lot of that focus real quickly.

That being said, a draft isn't going to happen.

Charlie, your mind seems to be so made up on many issues. I wonder, was there a certain age where you decided. "look I'm pretty much some hot shit and know everything, time to close up my brain."

I say this as i've seen this constant regurgitation of information from you. You are the poster boy of the little shit stain that knows better then anyone else. Do the world a favor, loose the pubescent attitude, and get a clue.

I concur that a general malaise seems to be the norm for many kids but not all.

The government has removed civil liberties one by one and I don't think a return to the draft especially now that the army is a shadow of it's former self and in the face of the expanding role the army is being asked to perform is out of the scope of the amazing Mr Bush.

Look at it logically, there is a smaller forca now than at any time since the end of WWII being tasked to more than has been asked of them since Vietnam. Of course they need more peopl ethan are joining voluntarily.

My point was that it seems the young people (who I would think would be like no way we are not willing to be your cannon fodder) are gung ho for Mr Bush.

perhaps that's because the people that have actually seen combat (ie the insufficient volunteer army) realize this war is worth fighting.

Actually Rob I was in the army from 18 to 24 and would have gone to war had they sent me but I would have been really angry had I been sent to get a leader of a country (1) cause he tried to kill my Dad & (2) based on falsified information.

We have been in country for a very long time and have found no WMD. Was that not the main reason for this war???

I'm with Charlie. especially with the private school kids bitching about shit when all they do is sit around starbucks and have their parents cover tution and buy them cars. expose them to the real world, and particularly war and hard work.....see if their view changes.

my liberal-as-hell ex girlfriend gained some insight to why I am republican and hated taxes after she finally got a job herself.

team america, world police will hopefully take out all the unstable third world nations with crazy fucking leaders one country at a time (or like now, a couple at the same time.....bad timing) but who wants a country to be able to grow into a great threat.

hmmmm. Germany was once a votile state before it grew into what it was. imagine if someone stopped THAT before the roots of WW2 even began. Iraq could have been that. Only these days everyone blames America instead of the Germans blaming the Jews.....

and you know what's next: North Korea, 2012

You think that your bachelors degree in _____ from college X and working some computer job (i imagine). Gives you this wealth of knowledge. WOO, thats hilarious, try traveling, open up your eyes to the status quo outside the USA, you might surprise yourself. Might give you maybe more of a, dare i say, "larger perspective" on life.

Maybe it is because these soldiers are getting shot at, and, maybe perhaps are trying to save their own ass instead of thinking of the greater picture. What do you call this massive movement called "veterans for peace". Are these guys also "pussies"? I mean, they do know how war works, as they have been there, but still decide to be against it.

                      To quote the asheville disclaimer.
Dear young republicans, it is time to stop this travisty. It is time to stand up and fight for your country. Because you aren't fighting for "freedom" by taking a french exam"

last I checked, veterans from peace was far from a 'massive movement'.

My daddy (Sgt in the US Army during Vietnam, son of a Lt. Colonel, US Army during WWII) said I didn't have to join the military. Fighting is for the poor a blacks, that's what we think right?

Hey hippie, why don't you move to France you frog?

                            oh wait.

My dad was in the Navy. He is a supporter of getting a good education, and it is only apparant when you recieve it the value of one. That, or realizing it being a clerk at blockbuster going on 35..... And he also wanted us to kick some Hussian ass. And both granddaddies, and my stepgranddad were military men. It's how they afforded to go to college, and provide for my mom to with the GI Bill.

Somehow being a lazy, let-mommy-and-daddy-pay-for-everything hippie doesn't allow most punk American kids these days have an appreciation for anything but the OC and making protests. Get a job. Get an education.

yeah, you know, i decided college was a waste of time, i rather live off the trust fund my father left me. Congratulations on being naturalized, it seemed to have worked flawlessly. What i seem to be noticing is that you do give a shit, as you do post in most political threads. I love how you say that you have "shit to do". You are on this website more often than i am or around 90% of it's members. Still haven't thoroughly addressed my question. When did you decide that you where all knowing? I ask because i am waiting for that moment to happen.
