For some reason, I don't think your average 18 year old who drops out of college and spends all day downloading stolen MP3's onto his new Ipod while living in his parents basement is going to become the next Bill Gates or Hemmingway. I mean, let's not forget that Gates dropped out of Harvard, it's not like he slipped through high school with a 2.1 gpa and went to go work at Cinnabon.

Jesus you people can be thick-headed. The moral of my 2cents in this thread is to try and not be so judgemental.

I think it's great that you guys have taken your college degrees and used your skillset to enrich your and your family's life. But it doesn't take a college degree to lead a prosperous life.

A person very dear to me received a bachelor and two masters degrees from UNC. Her entry level jobs paid very well, but she didn't find happiness there.

She went on to put her two children through high school and college on a 20k/yr job as a librarian.

Her college education did nothing for her, and yet, I hope to be half as content with my life as she is with hers.

No need to reply to this, as I won't be wasting any more bandwidth in this thread. I'll leave you with this

"Remember this -- very little is needed to make a happy life. "

Well I'm dumb and have no college education, so I cannot insert some really cool sounding quote here.

My best friend joined the military, and regrets every day. He said it's unreal how much the public is being lied to, and if he knew before enlisting all the stuff he knows now, he would have never joined up.

Bush is a stupid lying doucehbag.

Kerry would have been a lying doucehbag.

Politics in this country is dirty. The last guy who sat in the Oval Office who probably wasn't a dirtbag in some ways (or surrounded himself with dirtbags) was Jimmy Carter, and history regards him as a terrible President.

'Tis a shame that a good man like Colin Powell likely won't ever run for Pres.

I agree 99% Kerry still is a lying douchebag but imho was the lesser (slightly) of the two evils.
