You want to use the sharpest blade you can get so you only have to take one good swipe across the skin. Multiple passes with a dull blade makes the burn worse. Use a hot towel to soften up the hairs.
Feather brand blades are the sharpest i have ever used, i use these in a safety razor.Comment

Cleaned up my neckline today with a straight razor. Around the neck I think the main issue is getting comfortable holding different ways so that you can shave with the grain. A few small nicks and a bit of razor burn, but all in all I'm pretty happy with it for using one for the first time.Comment

I use the fusion as well. Batteries last forever and works great. I usually let it grow for a week then buzz it and shave. My work encourages beards...

Figured I ask here instead of starting a new thread. I bought a Merkur razor, LOVE IT, and it came with some Feather HI-stainless razors. Just curious, do any of you use one of these and what blades do you like? I need to order some more and want to know if I should stick with the Feather or do something else.sigpic

Order an assortment pack and find the blades that work best for you in that particular razor. My Merkur 180 works best for me with Derby Extra blades, while I prefer the Russian Personna blades in my Edwin Jagger razor. Once I find a blade I particularly like for a razor I generally order that blade in bulk.Figured I ask here instead of starting a new thread.
