My dad and my mom use to spank us, slap us, pull ear. ... but the biggest thing was that they were verbally abusive. ..

My dad told me one time that I was a failure in his eyes and that I was a disgrace and wondered what the fuck he did to raise a piece of shit kid like me. .. (I was 19 at the time and was making over $40k ... paid bills and had 2 cars .. didn't do drugs and wasn't drinking a lot ... and no kids) ... but some how I wasn't making enough and wasn't important enough for him to be proud of me.

.... yup daddy issues .... I'm 23 now and he still think the same thing and has told me that the one reason he moved out of the country was so that he didn't have to deal with me. .

.. the furthur away from me he is ... the better

This one time my mom beat my sister and I at church during mass because we were talking during the mass ... so she smacked the shit out of us inside. .. then took us outside and smacked/pulled our ears till the mass was over. ... then she made us apologize to the priest as he walked out of church ... then we went home and my dad yelled at us and pulled our ears while making us feel like shit. .. I was very young ....

Wasn't grounded though cause that to long, he turned into standing on my knees (like a few of you guys) but my feet couldn't touch the ground only my knees on tile.

[edit] said they and not he. Also it sucks that by the time I grew big enough to do something my parents had split. Ohh well I don't have to have any contact with him, I'm good.

I actually laughed at her when she did it. I tell my son that story whenever he acts like an ass.
My aunt drilled holes in the paddle so it stung more and she could swing it faster. My Dad former Vietnam POW knew the old torture pressure points, or would have me hold out ten pin bowling pins so the were parallel with the ground. While standing at attention but arms out.

Mom would do the switch thing but most of the time it was a good swift spanking the butt.

Stern YES did I deserve it? Yes 99 percent of the time did I learn from my mistakes? Yes, and I also learned don't risk it unless it's worth the consequences. Still apply the risk management techniques today.

Child abuse no, I spanked my kids when they were young and guess what they know Dad wouldn't hesitate to do it again versus their Mom who will not discipline worth squat.

On a side note do I hold animosity towards my parents? No Love them very much. My father has been deceased for quite some time, 16 years and passed away at age 54, far to young to die.

The belt, wooden spoons, ruler, thin wood switch, open hand smacking on the ass or face pending on what i said. My dad was in the air force for 21 years and he would line us or single person up and talk to you like a drill sergeant and put the fear of god into you before or if he would do something to you. It was ruff man.

Let's just say that my dad was a strong warning of how not to discipline a child. My kid benefits from my experience, so something good came of it.

Now that I am older I realize that my parents did the best that they could do, given the circumstances, their life experience and their world view.

This may not be true for 2% of you, but for the rest of you youngsters, keep this in mind: your parents are the only humans that always have your best interest at heart and will be there for you when no one else is. When I was a teenager I thought that my friends were loyal and would do anything for me in times of trouble, but that is not at all the case... my parents ended up totally coming through when I was in real trouble.

Belt or wooden spoon for the most part. I used to laugh when my mom would try to use wooden spoon haha

Most of what I learned from being "disciplined" as a child was how to not get caught.

I didn't get spanked as a kid because my mom didn't believe in it but I got much much worse...lectures. Not just as a teenager either, I can remember being like 7-8 years old wanting to gouge my own eyes out during a 3 hour lecture. My mom was also a fan of taking things away, many times growing up I would have an empty bedroom with clothes and a bed with nothing else.

I got a black eye from my mom for not knowing how to do my reading log where I had to input what book I read and for how long. I was in 4th grade. Next day cops came to my school cause my teacher was concerned when I told her my mom hit me. I always thought that everyone got beat. Meh.
My dad once told me he wished he had a shotgun so he can shoot and kill me, this was while I was in the car after he had picked me up from middle school. I started laughing hysterically when he told me that and he started hitting me while he was driving. I was glad I pissed him off to be honest. All that just cause he was waiting for me outside of school for like 15 minutes? Psh, I hate when people say real stupid shit.

But then again, I'm no perfect teenager.

Both my parents and my step dad to this day would do anything to save my ass if i was ever in serious trouble. Even though I didnt enjoy my childhood punishments, i know that they will always be there for me, and i do my best to never disappoint them even though im on my own now.

So even though some might see childhood asswhoopins as wrong, i feel like its almost a right of passage that shows your family can be so mad/love you so much at the same time that they will cross the line. Sure, at the time it sucks, but now that i think back on it i know that my whole family will lay it all on the line for me and I for them .

this right there. Hitting a kid is not physical abuse. This is the problem with all the kids today. They weren't whipped as a child.

man, that there is some fucked up people trying to raise kids...WTF, if you hate the kid so fucking bad that you make then kneel, or shove hot peppers in their mouth, or beat them, why not give them to someone who has half a fucking clue how to raise a kid?

So here is a question to go with this: how many of you actually like the company of your parents?
