Have you ever "rented" something from a department store?

I bought a home theater sound system that was on sale. Opened it and set it up a few months later in my new place, and the optical input was fubar'd. 90 day warranty was long gone, so bought another and returned the fucked one.

Same thing happened with some headphones once too.

I also meant to "rent" a multimeter to find my power drain, but ended up swapping it 4 times until I got one that worked. At that point I said fuck it, and decided to keep the working one. It caught on fire a week later, but still works properly...

Yeah some of this stuff is downright shady and kinda low class to do.

I did, however, buy a rain suit from Wall Mart for $10, tear the pants that came with it running to get cones at an auto-x event and then return it that same weekend, but that was just returning a product that fucked up after a day for cash refund.

Sams Club is a really good place for returns.

When i worked there the first thing i learned is that on anything, other than computers, always scan a picture of your receipt. You can bring back whatever you want whenever you want!

I had people return rotten food all the time that was clearly half eaten and the rest just left in the fridge. Or used ipods, xboxs, cameras, tvs, and even super faded patio furniture!

Blew a set of Sony Xplod's I got off crutchfield and went to Walmart and paid cash for the ones they sold at a much higher price, swapped them and refunded it minutes later saying "my grandpa told me to buy the wrong size."
