I was the same way with all imports. My grandfather worked at fisher body a long time ago so my house was gm or die. I saw the light a long time ago and have since started exploring foreign cars hence my first e30. All in all though I will say most newer Nissans are ugly as fuck, the cars themselves are actually very good cars. And I can say I would have never seen a situation like that be dealt with so poorly in the dealership I worked at. Either way sorry about your situation and once again all I can say is "fuck Hyndai!"
Purchased a Hyundai for the wife, many problems followed. Advice/Views needed.

Lemon law requires that it be returned to the dealer 3 times for the same issue.
Check your local laws. Some states give you a grace period in which you can return a vehicle and cancel the contract.
I've had the same issues with Nissan, which is why I refuse to own another one. Oddly enough it was the transmission too. They gave me the run around stating that I had no warranty on the vehicle - since when did a new Frontier not have a warranty? - At least they replaced your transmission - Nissan, and the dealer wouldn't do it unless I paid for it.
Anyways, talk to a lawyer and your local news networks. Do research. You may actually get some resolution to this b.s.Comment

VERY sad that they treated you poorly....
but it seems you were asking for an awful lot. Fact its, they fixed your car just like they are supposed to and just like the warranty states.
Why would the vehicle loose value with a new trans????!!???
If you have an accident, you don't get a new car.
If you buy a new house and something happens with the pool in the yard, do you get a new house?
I kinda sit on the other side of the fence being a mech. at a dealer. Not always will everything be perfect, and I understand how you feel, but to recieve a complete new car?
Also don't forget they are a dealership, and not Hyundai.Comment

i used to sell cars adn was very successful at it, keeping people on what we call "The line" (thats you) is something that we're all good at in that business.
they will drag out repairs and such in this case as long as they want or can because you have already signed papers, you have 2 options here.
1) notify the people who your loan is with, lenders DO NOT want any risk of a loan going bad because the dealership can't get their shit straight. They also do not like the idea of the lemon laws being used to return the vehicle in which they lose money as well
2) keep taking that vehicle back over and over again for the same transmission issue, 4th time is the charm here, they'll have to take it back or be in the line of fire for legal stuffs.
now the service dept is a very hostile area to attack and you will be met with very rude attitudes, and flat out ignored and treated like shit, everything short of spat on (and in some cases you will be spat on) so don't let your wife handle any of this.
they will try and contact her, threaten you, anything you can think of to keep you from returning that vehicle.
other option is getting in touch with the owner, and calmly explaining that you want the vehicle but it doesnt make sense that its already breaking, he will do everything he can do to make it right and avoid public slander or a lawsuit (which gets very expensive for the dealership even in the initial stages)
you will also be receiving a PAPER survey in the mail from hyundai, BOMB THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SALESGUY, that will get hyundai's attention and be sure to tell them what is going on in that survey. chances are very very good that the dealership hasnt talked to hyundai at all about it (why would they?)
always remember, dealership people ESPECIALLY the general sales manager and general manager have been trained very well on how to lie to you and read your body language to determine your reactions and know how far they can push you, also make sure it is the SM or GM you are talking to
I cant count how many times ive resolved problems for the dealership by pretending that i was in fact the GSM or general manager and telling them there is nothing we can do and bouncing them all over the place for monthsI can run Auto Checks on VINs for tips/donations:

This is involves more than the dealership. I spoke with at least 5 different individuals from Hyundai Motor America as well as the GM and SM at my dealer. I was met with attitude and unmet commitments at even turn.VERY sad that they treated you poorly....

Your examples are not going to sway me in this situation. If this had happened 6 months from now its a totally different story than it having the issue when it arrived at the dealership and was sold to me, if it was a fault of mine again a different story. To further push your examples, if this had been a TV i would have got home plugged it in, if it didn't work I would have taken it back and exchanged it for a new one or got a refund.
They fixed the issue with much frustration and wasted time on my part. I was forced to spend hours at the dealership immediately after the purchase of the vehicle because it was sold to me with a problem. I don't understand why it's ok for me to have to deal with all the hours of sitting at the dealership, paying for gas to get there and constant phone calls and headaches to get it figured out. Hyundai should have done all they could to resolve it and not leave it up to me to figure it out.
I understand legally they don't have to do anything but fix the car. But in an instance such as this to keep a customer happy and resolve this "1 in a million" issue replacing the vehicle is not asking for much. They can easily sell the car after being fixed with a minor price hit or make it a loaner car.
Lastly, why does a new trans drop the value of the car. Its not the new trans itself, its the scenario of such major work being done to the vehicle from its birth. If you came to buy a car and I showed you the documents about all the repairs it has had especially so early on in its life you are going to wonder about the rest of its life and not want to take responsibility for that potential issue. This is why I said if their warranty had been transferable we would have been heading in the right direction.

Thanks for the tips. I was infact speaking with the GM and the Service Manager on the dealerships side of things as well as many supposed managers on the corporate hyundai side of things. I attacked from both angles, the dealer basically told me they were only willy to fix it, so I went to hyundai while they went to hyundai.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

That sucks. I'd keep going higher and higher till someone helps you. Even sending letters to the company directly. Then think of going to the media or someone to promte how they've treated you.
I just don't buy new anymore period.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

My hyundai almost killed me. 50mph rear end collision wth a 3500 van at a stand still and my airbag didn't come out. But my passenger side did with no one in it. Trade it back for a futue prevention of collision+extreme injury or death.

This might come out as a dig on OP, but I don't mean it as one. Buying a Hyundai and expecting amazing customer service at the dealership is like going to McDonald's and being pissed that there isn't china and polished silver at the table to eat with. I'd personally consider myself lucky to have gotten the warranty replacement of trans, rather than having them slime their way out of it altogether. Those guys who work there are the dudes that you went to high school with who will never leave your hometown. Not exactly the most impressive folks.e92 M3
