Simple ways you increase your gas mileage thread.

so i just did my first full fill up in my new e21. calculated my trip milage (always reset on a new tank) with how much it took, and i'm getting about 25MPG, not terrible to todays standards but i know my putty little 4cyl is capable of much better mileage.

so i'm making a plan of attack to get better mileage.
    • shift at lower rpms, don't romp the gas (sorta hard to do with so little power lol.)
    • definitely make sure my tires are around 35psi.
    • check oil periodically (already do that...)
    • fix diff issues.

can't really think of anything else besides reducing weight, but there's not much to take off of the e21 chassis.

how do you guys increase your mileage in terms of driving habits and maintenance/modifications?

Spencer come on, you're better than this. There are so many threads on this already, not too mention dedicated forums online just to improve your mileage.

the only way to improve an E21's mileage to to change it to EFI from a 84 E30 318.

I monitor my gas guage like nuts. I often use cruise control when going only 35mph in town... hmm. I try REALLY hard to save my gas.. but it is hard to drive an E30 like a granny. HARD

                      Epiphany!

Hire a granny to drive you around! They don't have anything to do anyways, just give 'em a canasta set and maybe some dried plums. They'd probably just be happy to get out and see what exists of modern society outside the cold dark walls of the "home."

Don't bother worrying about it. Beyond not driving like a complete ass, there isn't that much of a difference.
