There are a good number of people here saying college is a bad idea or overrated, and I think they are all dumbasses. At no point is learning more a bad idea. Yes, you can make good money without a college degree, but you have to be exceptional in some area and those people are few and far between. The average income of people with only a high school diploma is 36k a year, whereas college grads average over 50k. Also, the economy is shit, so now is a great time to be in school. In 3-4 years the job market should be better making your future prospects better. It's an investment, yes there is initial cost and some risk, but if you truly work your hardest and get as much out of it as you can you'll be better off for it. *flame suit on*

Depends on what you're learning; learning lots of useless information and paying through the nose for it is pretty dumb. Besides, going to college won't make you smart. It'll make you knowledgeable. And deep in debt. And sure, if you want to work for someone else the rest of your life, having a degree will be an asset. But if you have some startup money, and a good mind for business, then take that 40K and go out and give it a shot. After all, if you're really sharp, you can get your frioggin' degree online if you really want to. Like Slammin328.guy said, find a simple business you can run and work hard at making it work. (24 hr donut shops are also good but make your own, don't buy the franchise).

Alright guys didnt expect this thread to turn into a college debate personaly I think a college education is a great thing I just have no idea what to major in. Like I said before Im entering the airforce in a year and when I do whats left of the money is getting put in a CD. If I dont become a career airman I plan on using my GI bill to go to school hopefully by then i'll know what I want to do. Till then Im just sitting on my hands not blowing my money on M3s but I do plan on spending a couple Gs traveling or a cruise or hell even a roadtrip across the country, So r3v again What cool shit is there to see in this world
