Could the old vintage car maybe be Greg Whitten the Microsoft guy?
Not one of them has magnesium wheels. They are all aluminum. The black car is a local guy, was originally built and raced by Al Leake. Its a rubber chicken. The car is named Sophia, and is pretty famous. https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20322/lot/479/

Me too. That's a nice one.
I've seen these with the grey molding that runs along the side and turns into the spoiler painted body color, and it looked good. Took out a lot of that "kink" visually.

But they aren't the right wheels for the car. They would be if it were a TZ,or even an SZ, but its not. They likely aren't magnesium either. They are UGLY and BORING on a Sprint, they cover the awesome giant brake drums that (should) hide behind them.

If I were bidding on that car, the wheels and the interiour would be the first things that went away. Heck, I can almost stand the interiour enough to get rid of the wheels first. Seriously, the more I look at the car, the more I hate those wheels.

I don't think they look bad but they are on almost every modified or restored Alfa you see. Though I'm not the biggest fan of 4 spoke wheels, they are certainly a breath of fresh air on Wills car and are period correct (mostly). I'm really excited to see Wills Sprint done.

Hmm....in my case I guess because they look stock to a layperson but they are so much better. I guess I have always thought phone dial type wheels look great on old alfas.

Also, that auction i went to for Simon a year ago, there was one of these laying around in the barn. I had the chance to see the way it was built up close.

Why do people like those wheels? They are fine on a TZ1, but outside a TZ1, they are eh, at best. Put a set of Panasports, or LeMans like I have, or perhaps even a set of alloy stock reproductions, but the TZ replicas are overdone, over rated, and really only belong on a TZ (and I'd rather have something other than those on a TZ if I had one.)

I'm watching this with a very keen interest. This is a nice car, but that interior is horrible. Mine will have more engine, and a much better interior as well as a taller ratio limited slip rear end. My suspension is better as well.
