European Spider. I hate these. What's with the lights and that clamshell nose? What's with the weird wedge slice in the middle of the car? And they're FWD no less.
Alfa ceased to design good looking cars after about 1974. There were a couple really cool race cars (155) but really, the rest were funky. Its almost like they were trying to make cars that were too unique to the point they were unattractive. The last few years things have gotten a little better, but for the most part are still funky. The 8C looks good, the 4c, not so much. MIto? Funky. The upcoming Giulia doesn't look bad, but it does look like a better looking 4 door BMW. The 4 door that was in the beginning of the Bond movie a couple years ago (166? perhaps) looked ok, but was FWD. (I'd think it was a cool car if rwd.)
So, the Sprint is off to the body guy on Sunday. It will be the first time the car has left the property its currently at since it arrived in the early 70s.
I got the front wheel wells treated with Rust Mort yesterday, and painted with POR-15 today. I'll be digging my grill pieces out for the body guy so he can form the body to the grills.
Perhaps it will be painted and a driver by October?
I got this far today. Lot of body shop dust down there.
This got me access to the upper control arm bolts, so now I can start painting arms and pressing in new bushings for the front end. Carbs had to come off to rebuild anyway. Those rubber isolators look old and cracked. Looks like the intake manifold has to come off to get to hidden bolts on the backside.

Its kind of a strange feeling. Its been 8 years getting the car to this point. In the past two days I've POR15d the front wheel wells, frame rails, and the insides of the rocker panels. Dispite my best attempts, I have paint all over my arms, in my hair, on my legs. Black paint everywhere. The good news is that the areas that are known to rust, will never, ever rust now. Now I need to go buy another quart of POR15 for the suspension parts, rear axle, and a few other spots. I can't wait to start installing parts again.
Nice work on your car. You should bag the intake and distributor and hose that dust off. Its always nice to work on a clean car. :)
