Guys.. lets face it. Music nowadays is way better than it was 50 or 60 years ago. Seriously.. Elvis was just a hip-shaking, talentless retard who was just barely pretty enough to make the cut.

Creed has sold more records than Jimi Hendrix? Yeah.. because Hendrix was some fruity black dude who made up a lie about learning to play left handed to gain some notoriety.. seriously.. anyone can mangle some guitar strings and recreate any of his songs. Little Wing? Easy.

Creed is hands down one of the best bands of this generation. C'mon.. you know you want to cry when "6 Feet From the Edge" comes on the radio. I know I do..

I think the whole point of that article was to say Justin Beiber sucks.

(I'm sure this has already been said a milion times already but...)It's super disappointing, but they're comparing artists that are extremely new, to artists from several decades ago. Metrics are different now than they were then. And the world population at the end of 1969 (say when the Beatles were at their prime) was only 3.5 billion...and there was no facebook, itunes, or cable internet to access all the Beatles songs at an impulse whim. At the end of 2010, the world population was around 6.8 billion, and Facebook, Itunes, and Cable internet are pretty much a staple in most developed countries. That's twice the amount of people available to sell to, with much more efficient means. And I think the fact that we're comparing artists from a long time ago, and they're still pertinent NOW shows that the Beatles , Michael Jackson, etc. are true artist despite their metrics...they have longevity, they had the ability to create music that lasted through several generations up until today. I mean I can't tell you if we'll still be listening to "California Gurls" or "Tik Tok" 40 years from now, but if we still are, and it's still pertinent in 2052, then lets compare the Beatles to Katy Perry and Ke$ha then, not now. Besides, Elvis and the Beatles are the only two artists to have sold over a billion units. So there were in excess of two billion transactions made by people over the past 50 years, on just those two artists. After knowing that, do we still really want to compare Katy Perry or Rhianna to the Beatles or Elvis?

I know for a fact that Led, the Beatles, and Jimi Hendrix's family all receive mo-larger checks in the mail every single month than most of those f's combined!
This list also seems old since most of the newer acts listed have had their 15mins! ;)

More proof -- should there be any lingering doubts -- that you'll NEVER go broke underestimating the taste of the American public.

EDIT: I tear up when I hear Creed too -- assuming the DJ identifies them so I know what I'm hearing -- because it's a fucking tragedy that band every got inside a studio.

With Nairb I'll take Creed over Jimi any day.

Really, #12 really is the only worthwhile part of that list.

But seriously, as sad as it is, it doesn't take into account several things. Such as the fact that its much easier to press 2 buttons to download a song, as compared to going to a store and purchasing a record/ cd/ tape act.

And, a numerically larger buying public, hence more maroons ... Bah humbug.

Classic rock is still played on the radio today and in 30+ years will todays autotuned crap still ve being played? Nope. Big selling pop stars come and go every 15 minutes. Good rock lasts forever.

I am dismayed to see that the list simply compared modern pop to older pop.

No comparisons to Sabbath, Maiden, etc
