The price difference between the 16v and other W201s is laughable. The 16v has a lot more in common with the regular 2.3 and 2.6 than the E30 M3 does with other E30s. If you want a fast W201 get a 2.6 and swap a 3.0 or 3.2 or 3.6 24v engines. These sellers pop up on CL seeing $$$$ because OMGLOLWTF its just like an E30 M3 FTMFW!

Truth......the 16v is no comparison to an e30 M, though I guess I might be biased. It is a great car, and would make for an awesome DD, but it is a lot more compromised than an M3.
