    Radio Controlled Helicopter

So I got my nephew one of those cheap RC helicopters for Christmas that they now sell and with his first flight the copter goes right into the aquarium. After he complained about having gotten it and it dried out, I started playing with it. Long story short I was having a lot of fun with it.

Im now looking into getting one. The smart thing would be for me to get a $20 one like I got him and see if I get tired of it or at least practice with it before dropping $100 - $200 one a more advanced one.

I wanted to get others experience and advice with them.

    Thanks

I played with one at the mall. Long story short. Why the hell is there a 25 ft geyser in next to that booth?

I have one from a few years back, neighbor got it for me for a gift.
Flew it a few times and put it away. Few weeks ago I had the bright idea of attaching my cel phone to the bottom of it.
Made a super cool 30 second video of all the kids on my street chasing under it.

Had a couple of the $20 ones in the office that were a ton of fun til we started trying to make the other crash mid air and both ended up broken.

Some of the newer ones are very good. The old AirHogs were just plain horrible.

If you're seriously interested getting into the hobby, I recommend spending a little more money and get the better ones at the hobby store instead of the mall. When I was down at my friend's brother BMW shop in GA, they all was playing with them in the shop. I notice that the cheaper model response was very slow compared to the more expensive ones, along with the speed and maneuverability of the two. Also with the cheaper model, if anything breaks, you're pretty much SOL since they don't make replacement parts (most I know don't). As for the ones you get in the hobby store, if something breaks (trust me, something will lol), you can always go back and buy replacement parts.

I actually passed by a hobby shop near me and decided to pass on the helicopter. The reason being is the cheap ones are pretty much only good for indoors and the more expensive ones are good outside as long as there is little to no wind. Also if they fall from anything more than a few inches parts will need to be replaced. If anything I might go the rc truck route instead. That way I can take it to the woods near my house.

Thanks for all the input though

The turbine on that jet costs more than most r3vmembers e30's.
