Finding a dog a good home.

Last summer I had to give up my St. Bernard, I loved him and he was the best dog you could ever imagine. But with my financial situation worsening I just couldnt keep him :(.

I just got a call from the Humane Society saying that he was surrendered by the family that adopted him last night. Apparently he was showing 'aggression' towards the young children in the house, so they called and had him taken away. In the time i owned and raised him he was no joke the sweetest, gentlest dog you could imagine. Needless to say, the call from the Humane Society was devastating. Anyway, the man who picked him up from the family's home told me that the dog (Massimo) showed zero aggression towards him, other dogs, or the others at the animal shelter.

As much as i want to take him back and have him be my dog again, my current place is a small 1 bedroom with no yard, and my financial situation isnt much better than it was. So now my question is, how do i find him a home with people who will treat him well and care for him how he deserves to be cared for?

He is the pick of the litter pure bred St. Bernard and is about 1.5 years old now. This dog literally never left anyones side, he loves people. He would try to follow me everywhere, outside, when i went to the bathroom, literally everywhere. He loves people, and is very smart. I never had a fence at my old place and he didnt run away once. I've had dogs my whole life and he takes the cake as the best dog, so I have to find him a great home. Anyone know of any good ways to go about doing this? He is at the Humane Society in Kansas City, MO right now. Any locals looking for a kick ass dog?

This makes me sad. He def looks like a kick ass dog bro. Sounds like the kids are the issue with previous family. Hope he finds a loving home man, he is too young to be homeless. :(

I agree, i can only imagine a bunch of little kids in the house on christmas messing with him. Poor guy, I really wish i could take him back he is such a great dog/friend. Every night when id get home from work he used to go nuts and get so excited, i miss that. Or he would get in bed with my GF and I, it was like having another 4 clumsy people in bed with you, but it was still great. I really need to find him someone who can give him the life he deserves.

I call bullshit on being aggressive, poor owners trying to back out of a situation they didn't think about fully before pulling the trigger. And of course, the animal suffers.

I'd take him back until I could find a good home for him. If that means eating ramen for a month so he eats too, do it man.

^ thats what i was thinking, a house full of little kids and a big dog is a lot to handle. I just hope he wasnt neglected by them.

Im considering it, my place is way way too small and has no yard or pets allowed. But my GFs is bigger and can have pets, I cant get out to see him until friday, so we might take him home until WE can place him instead of the animal shelter.

indeed, i taught him how to give me a hug haha. I would pat my chest and say hug, and only then would he jump up on me. Really he is the man! And he loves car rides! If i opened the tailgate of my dads truck or jeep he would be in so fast, and wouldnt get out unless we went for a ride.

I grew up with 2 Saints, and even though I have scars from the male (On my face, and stomach, and... he liked to chew on me sometimes), I wouldn't have changed anything about them. They're the best fucking dogs in the world. Do everything you can to keep him, or atleast find him a home, mate. I remember our 205 pound male riding in the back of the E30 when I was little.

I really hope you can find some way to get him back if not, find him a good home. I can't imagine letting my dog go, especially when I had it ever since she was a pup. Good luck!

Does your local news have a pet of the night thing with local shelter? We have three in our local region that get free two minute blurb a night. Basically asking for donations and people looking to adopt a family/indvidual pet.

Best of luck with this this, pets are the first to suffer in fiscal crisis.
