Update: I called her out.
We were chatting on the phone and I asked how her night was (after i knew she was home), she said it was good, blah blah blah, then she said that she didn't drink....So i mentioned that i saw a picture of her from an hour prior ago taking a shot.....
The shit storm ensued:
-She said she didnt appreciate me implying that she was dumb
-Told me she was smart about it and waited to drive home
-accused me of searching facebook, when in reality a mutual friend posted the pic and i just happened to see it.
-Told me that i was lecturing her about alcohol and that she is 21 and was nowhere near over the limit (which is irrelevant if you have a pending diversion, .01 means bye bye diversion and hello DUI with full consequences)
-She got really pissed at me for all of the above, told me how i was being condescending, that she can drink if she wants to, blah blah blah
-Told me how she was fine to drive...
I told her, i needed to say something. I could give two shits about what or how much she drinks as long as she doesnt drive. But my point that i made very clear to her was that if she was to get stopped (despite being "fine to drive and having 1 shot") a cop would see her DUI on the licence record, have take her BAC and she is saying hello to another night in jail. (I know endangering someone elses life is way more important, but this hit home much harder).
Then I reminded her how lucky she is, when she got the DUI she was nearly 3 times the legal limit and didnt hurt herself or anyone else, and got off with a slap on the wrist. I gave her shit for jeopardizing her life and everyone else's by not learning her lesson.
End:
She was very very mad at me. But as the conversation went on she got the point and felt incredibly guilty to the point where she was crying. I think she got the point and realized that if she wants to go out its worth the $10 for a cab, or just finding and ensuring there is in fact a sober driver.
Im glad i called her out, she is definitely still mad at me but it needed to be done. The point was made that she was incredibly lucky once and that she under no circumstances should push her luck again.

Good thing you called her out. It would still probably be best to do something to make up for making her cry, but it's good she got the message. Sounds like she was being very selfish.'84 318i M10B18 147- Safari Beige

Good for you, handled it a lot nicer than I would have when she got lippy. Hopefully she gets the message, if it's escalates know you did what you could to be play the nice guy role and drop the hammer if need. I'll gladly sign a witness statement for one of my friends driving drunk long before the possibility of them killing a family member.Comment

Show her this thread to prove how stupid she is. I can careless if she drives straight into a tree drunk and dies from it, but if she damages/endangered anyone elses property or life in the process, her parents should have aborted her for the greater good...
(too mean? i guess im traumitized from having my dog killed by a drunk driver who claimed he was fine ti drive... Asshole got a slap on the wrist and ended up killing a 9 yo kid 3 years later doing the same thing... sad thing was that 2 lives were lost and this guy gets jaillll time)

And there's the problem, you and many others view the slap on the wrists as a good thing, I on the other hand, do not. In my opinion, this only encourages people to do stupid things because there are no immediate difficult consequences to deal with, people just waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswafflesfoot around by letting idiots go to driving school and work at the soup kitchen for a few months and all is resolved, hell she didn't even have it on her record several months later!
From what I've seen, many people who get a DUI will end up getting another because they think they can get away with it again, or even if they get caught they will talk it down to some minor punishment. Out of these people there is a percentage that end up in tragedy for that person as well as other people around them, innocent bystanders who perish because of someone else's idiocy.
Slap that bitch in the head and take her keys, she doesn't deserve them.
Edit: Nice work, I didn't read through the whole thread. Now get her drunk at home and get us some nudes as appreciation for the community's sound advice.Comment

Good work on calling her out buddy, you did the right thing at it seems like she understands too. Maybe you should let her know that you're prepared to pick her up and take her home if she's had too much to drink, then take her back to her car the next day. A lot of the time, people end up drink driving because they don't feel they have another option. Let her know that she can call you and you'll help her out.Comment

I have never understood the "call me any time for a ride if your drunk" BS.Good work on calling her out buddy, you did the right thing at it seems like she understands too. it is called personal responsibility. people SHOULD take some for themselves.
if you can afford to go out and get wasted without having a plan to get you safely home, you can't really afford to go...
these people are intensely self-centered and selfish. the law and the full force of its retribution should hit them EVERY single time.
OP, good work on not being a Puss and calling her dumb ass out.Comment

What about the guy in Florida who KILLED some people then kept partying while out on bail. His family hired an investigator to follow him. They played footage of him shooting beer pong. Clearly had no sense of the wrong he'd done.
He is now serving a 35yr sentence for man slaughterComment

Wow 35 for manslaughter! that's TWICE what murder would get you here...
some dude stabbed his girlfriend 216 times, mutilated her.... pathetic 18 year jail term.
Drink drivers don't deserve absolute fuck all in my opinion. They can forfeit their rights IMO.Comment

Job well done sir. Next time you see her do it again, report her ass to authoritayz. Git that point across.Comment
