Why did you delete your Facebook?

I use mine to keep in touch with friends and family that live in different cities that I don't see often, view pictures that my sister posts of my niece and just generally post about whatever project I have going on. It's a good time waster on my phone as well if I have to wait around for something.

I have a rule with it that I don't friend someone unless I see or talk to them in person at least once a month, though recently that has been getting a little out of hand.

I can understand this, but facebook could also be seen as the perfect place to keep in touch with the people you don't really know. It's like what if you could customize your own craigslist full of people you'd actually want to do business with, etc. "friends" is just a word. We know these people won't take a bullet for you, but they might be able to share beer recommendations, etc. Baby's first forum, really.

it's not an excuse not to stay in touch with people that you'd otherwise be having board game parties with; It's a networking tool that has many uses. People who claim to reject social networking sites because it's not part of their philosophy need to get over themselves. I totally understand where they're coming from, but sometimes you've just gotta swallow your ego and take advantage of the tools available to you. Or not.

in the 90's there were people who thought email was a bad idea. It's the same shit.

I haven't deleted mine and doubt I will. I stay in touch with alot of ppl through it. However, limiting it's use is high on my list.

Just recently I commented on a female friend of mines photo of a tattoo, my gf (whom going thru some difficult stuff anyways) blew it totally out of context and made this huge deal about being flirty blah blah blah. It's just annoying, especially now that everything I do, is posted so everyone can see.

Have it and still use it. I keep it to people I have some interest in and that don't annoy me, going to clean out some contacts soonish because it's been a while. And it's in no way addicting, I don't understand how you can spend hours on it.

I deleted mine because I really found no use for it, recently however, had to reactivate to get in touch with some out-of-state people in my line of work that need to keep in touch with me.
