Hope you have tiny wrists, those are seriously small watches. I do love the style though...

Only way an all ss Daytona was going to be sold to me was if I bought another one but the two tone.

Like the fact that your watch drawer is actually your toolbox!

Got a black-faced Ferrari Pit Crew right before the move to Italy, helped smooth over my lack of coherent Italian with the locals. Didn't cost an arm and a leg, but sure looked nice.

Nah my shoe addiction is equivalent to a woman's shoe addiction, my watch addiction is equivalent to a women's jewelry addiction if her jewelry actually fucking did something haha.

I admitted from the beginning its a fashion statement, I work behind a desk and have a cellphone, which means there is no NEED for one.

You guys were getting all uppity about what is the equivalent for shoes for a women.

I'll have to check with one it was, glanced it at really. Price was around $8k. Japan's economy is not as strong as it was and people are selling for below value prices.

I think you guys are taking it a WEE BIT seriously.
Well you drop 2-5k on most any Rollie, Omega, Oris Pam, Hammie, ect.... you are getting something that you can wear Every day and last a life time. Even if you are a deep sea diver or a astronaut on EVA, and still pass it on to your children. You even think of doing anything like that with some of the suggestions on here Nixon/hermes and such, that will not happen.

While they are $$$$ and are as much a jewely item, as they are built as tool watches in many cases. We dont buy them for their perfect precision in time keeping. We buy them for the mechanical marvels of engineering that they are. They reflect our personal style and taste, a lot can be said and learned about man by the watch he wears.

Actually that $200 quartz citizen probably keeps vastly superior time to even the most well engineered automatic. I can't speak for other people, but I definitely did not purchase mine as a fashion statement...it's actually quite reserved as far as styling goes compared to much cheaper options. Watches are among the most durable and long lasting machines of all time, how many other mechanical devices survive not only intact but functional after more than a century to deteriorate?

For you, without question purchase a second hand watch. A business with a good estate collection will have a lot to offer you in that price range, but if you buy new all you'll manage to get is a name on one of their cheaper pieces. Buying non-swiss can also make things a lot easier too, plenty available from other countries that can't command more than they're worth simply for saying SWISS MADE

It's an illness, not everyone understands it...at least that's my excuse.

Are the sub $10k ones that you really would want? That's got to be their entry level one. I think I'd rather have a $10k Breitling or IWC, than a $10k Patek.
IWC yes, Breitling god no. Breitling are the rich man's fashion watch for those with more money than taste. Overly flashy, obnoxiously large and in your face. There are plenty of worthwhile deals on PP worth going after. I had one for a while which I recently sold that I was having restored, it was simply a bigger financial investment than I had originally anticipated.

Without a doubt my most desired watch would be a rose gold moonphase Breguet.

I was wanting this Bulova Precisionist for christmas, but nobody got it for me. I thought it was pretty cool with a smooth movement and all. Not a bad price either.

I am with ken on this. I love my watches, and I dont have an issue dropping coin one that I save a few months or a year for. But a Patek will never grace my wrist, or watch box ever, no matter how much money I would be able to afford to spend on a watch.
