homages are watches that look like a certain brand but do not infringe upon the names and markings
ie - lacoste polo and le tigre polos
look the same but the logos are different
strictly speaking, homages are legal and knockoffs are illegal
also, homages are more welcome in the horological world

the two on the right are subs
the one on the left is a sub homage
all of the distinguishing details, none of the branding

They're still given the cold shoulder by most time piece aficionado's. Some are very well done yes, but at the end of the day you're still buying a watch latching onto another brands success through a replica. Most homage pieces replicate everything about a brand short of the name, a 99% replica. I like knowing there's history behind the watches I purchase, someone making a buck off an centuries old watch maker doesn't tickle my pickle. Your gshock collection makes me smile though, it's surprising how many horology snobs (not saying you are!) are actually huge gshock fanatics.
Lots of great deals pop up from wealthy buyers who splurge on a watch, never wear it and flog it for a lot less than new. Both of those are well trusted places to buy, I'd steer clear from ebay unless you know how to spot a fake.

this is true, but it's also an easy way to try something on to make sure you really want it before making the big plunge.
i probably went through 3 or 4 sub homages and 3 or 4 pam homages before coming to a conclusion of what i really like.
be careful though, it's a slippery slope.
i started with one homage, then several homages, then several divers, then several pam homages, then i realized i needed a watch box, then the overwhelming desire to fill said watch box, then g-shocks, then more pams, then nato straps and leather straps.
it's crazy
then next thing you know, you're crazy about stupid shit like lume
i mean seriously, wtf?! chicks don't even dig watches!

So true lol, a guy could have a $50k patek on and girls would be more drawn to the huge gold nixon on another guys wrist. It's a sickness with little reward.
Yeah I gather that. I have 1 or 2 though. Since I live out of shity hotels and what not and I like to have something other than my 007 to wear when I do get a chance to do something other than work. I have a couple replicas of ones I actually OWN the real version of. So if they happen to come up missing or my bag gets ripped off I am only out 250-350 bucks a pop rather than 10 times that. They have their place, but so long as your not trying to pass them off as the real deal, You know
I guess you missed that big long ass post I made. This is a topic I know a little about. I am not endorsing the trusty's to the point of buy these over the real deal. But a outfit that sell good time pieces that are homage/replica of more expensive ones is an option for some situations.

Not hugely into watches but I do have one I wear daily. I'd like to get another for nicer occasions but dropping more than $250 on a watch is just not a big priority for me.
