Nothing involving taking the wheels off, subframe, diff, engine, exhaust stuff would be harder... it just doesn't seem that useful and worth getting a lift if it's gonna be a 4 post.
most of the home 4 post lifts come with a steel crossmember for jacking the car up for assembly/disassembly purposes. i can't think of anything i can do on the 4 post where a 2 post would work better.

plus i can park a car under the 4 post with a car on the lift which was reason enough for me

Driveshaft, exhaust, subframe, transmission... Wouldn't that crossmember get in the way of those things? Or atleast in the way of whatever is above where the crossmember is?

the crossmember is a removable piece the slides fore and aft in a channel built into the tracks. you can position it under any part of the car to jack up the car or position a fixed jack stand, suck as the diff/rear subframe, tranny etc.
if you don't need it, you take it out and the entire underside of the car is accessible

Yeah I found what your talking about now. That sounds perfect. Which brand would you recommend for a home garage. I'm still doing research but i'd like to get some feedback from people that know a lot about this.

I have a direct lift from greg smith equipment. The pump and motor are made in the US and everything else is imported....as most of them are not. Even the bendpack.

Mine has been great!! It is a baseplate type and fits in my home garage with a 10' ceiling.

I paid around $1600 shipped from greg smith

I boight the danmar base model a couple years ago
Something like $1900 then, i had to pick it up at the transport company's dock and then assemble it. Couple friends came over and it took half a day, wasn't hard, just heavy pieces.
I think the lifts go on sale
I'd also be looking on craigslist and ebay for a used one

The danger with that setup is tripping on all the crap you leave on the floor around it. You sir need a cart. If you have one, you need to use it ;)
