    He turned probably turned into a businessman after you assumed he would do 20+ hrs work for free...always two sides to a story.

    If you can't do headgaskets, why would you try swapping the engine yourself? Not hating, just trying to follow your 'logic'...

                Just found a 67k motor with compression and leak down test done. I believe that's called winning.

                      Cut your losses and scrap it, there's very little market for E38 parts and the only thing worth money is the engine/tranny anyways.

                              Sell it for parts, e38 aren't worth much nowadays. I bought my 98 740il for 2k. At the first sign of engine/trans problem, I will sell it for parts.
