    I Became a U.S. Citizen Today!

    Some back story,

I was born in Kenya and came to the country when I was 6 months old. My dad came to America when I was still in my mom's belly; arrived here with a suitcase and $200. Over the years he worked hard as a student at La Sierra University (Riverside CA) He worked odd jobs under his student Visa and eventually got us (my mom and I) over in January '93.

We lived in a 1 bedroom student home until my brother came along in '94 and spent the next 9 years in our tiny 2 bedroom apartment (My sister popped out in 96, making that 5 of us) During our stay in those apartments, my Mom ditched her old career as a teacher and managed to finish Nursing school at the local community college. My Dad went on to get his Doctorate degree in English and continued teaching at the same Middle School he got his first big break at.

I am now a college sophomore and have great respect for my parents and the hardships they went through to get me Permanent Residency here and now Citizenship.

    I'll forever love my Parents.

    Cliffs:
    -Humble beginnings in America
    -Parents worked hard and overcame
    -We are now all citizens!

    God Bless America!

Thanks! And that's awesome, I know the hardest part was the Green Card process but it should be a bit easier from there. Good luck to her!

It's good to hear that someone actually worked hard instead of abusing the system. I applaud you and and your family for the hardships you endured.

And I giggled at this part:

...and eventually got us (my mom and I) over in January '93.

Thank you, and yes the process is a bitch and a half!! I'm truly blessed that my parents did all the paper work for me and didn't leave me hanging, seeing as I am now 19 lol

nice! how was the test? my wife is going to take it next year.

it's good to hear stories about hard working people that busted their asses and did something with themselves, instead of complaining about how bad they have it (hah!)

.....meanwhile, somewhere on the west coast, some kid living in his parents $750,000 house borrowed their Mercedes to go buy some pot so he could sit around and get high while playing video games and eating cheetos.. oh man, how can he survive under those conditions? :|

Congratulations OP. Thanks for not being an ass hat immigrant. Now, lets go celebrate at the gun range and eat some Big mac's! But first, lets drink these beers.

                            :D
