no it can't but I do have a key u can use to replace that one that is specific for the e30. $15 shipped to you for a pair.

they are electronic keys - they store a code that rotates for the keyless entry
plus they are laser cut in the middle of the flat surface, the outside edges remain straight
plus there are no axial groves that fit an e30

You can buy a keyless entry kit off of ebay that comes with a key set like that. The key is a little long though. You need to take it to a locksmith to be cut because you must adjust the key stop in order to cut it correctly.

I bought the kit you're talking about and the key they supplied is also a lot thinner than the OEM key. Then I took my OEM key, cut it up, and stuck it in the fob. Worked great till the POS eBay plastic broke off with the key in my door.

How old was it? Mine is over a year old and the only problem I have had is the BMW roundel sticker comming off.

I bought it because I wanted keyless entry but did not want to add more crap to my key chain. I only use it for the ignition and the button for everything else.
