Yep, my fiance was telling her (girl) friend about how we're about to start looking for a car for her and my fiance says, "Brian really wants to try and get another BMW and we both like the X5's..."
That woman responds with an ignorant, "you should watch out for those cars, they're really expensive to work on and parts cost a lot of money..."

Really? I'm a mechanical engineer, I've been working on cars since I was 16, I do all my own work on my cars, and I currently own two BMW's...You seriously think you know better than me?

Back to seriousness,Before i started my own shop I would Have my car on the lift every Saturday to just check the air pressure,and look over the car. The other techs would say the same damn thing everytime.

I wouldn't be surprised if most e30 lovers did some part-time hating on BMW. I know I do :)

I use to be that domestic guy who hated foreign cars. Till i bought one for a daily beater. And it was an e30. It changed my mind toward other cars. Although my heart is still and will aways be for GM,Mopar and AMC. I wont turn my nose up at other cars from over seas without giving them a look. Although i still make fun of any car. I dont care if its domestic or foreign, Ford gets the blunt of my blows lol.

This. I just like cars. Some happen to be German, some American, some Japanese. If you're that stuck on one car brand than I'm sorry because there are a ton of other great cars out there.
