Cool! Do you have your license?

My parents got me ground school as a X-mas gift! I'm going to start classes this summer.
    I'll be flying a Diamond DA-20.

Don't have the license yet. This is a solo cross country. Basically the last thing you do before the FAA checkride so I'd say I'm about 2 weeks away from getting the PPL.

I'm jealous you get to fly that Diamond. They're super nice but the rates are too high for me to justify flying them. You're gonna have a blast!

^ I've flown the Diamond before it was a lot of fun! That was one hell of a birthday present.
        <---Goodnight, sweet prince

Cool. I couldn't tell where your FBO is. Everett?

I'm with Rainier Flight Service in Renton. I'm also a CFI/CFII but haven't done any instruction lately.

Yeah I'm pretty excited for it! it'll be cool to fly with a joystick I think. Mind you, I haven't flown anything yet. I'll post up some pics and vids when I get around to doing it. Probably some time later this summer when the weather is more stable up here! Supposed to fucking snow again tomorrow.

"Joysticks" are what kids in their parent's basement playing flight sims use. A stick is what you fly a manly airplane with. Just sayin.. :)

the good ol' 152. I miss em.
did my primary training in one, but it had long range tanks and a sparrowhawk engine (125hp) with a climb prop. What a sweet plane </3

So are you a naval aviator? I'm thinking about applying for a flight slot. How has your experience been?

That plane would be a lot better... with an LS1.

Don't laugh there are kit plane 3/4 size Mustang replicas that use LS engines.

I am. The experience has been awesome, though of course there is good and bad along with that. Flying single seat fighter jets is hands down the best way to spend your 20's and it has been an awesome experience. Working 12-15 hr days attending to 3-5 jobs that don't involve flying, not as cool. And that brings me to the people........the most motivated, hard working folks you will ever find. Whether that is the 20 year old kid turning wrenches out on the flight line, or the other pilots in my ready room. I heard a retirement speech by a recently deceased Hornet guy who (speaking of his first tour squadronmattes) said "I was an only child growing up, but when I left my nugget tour, I realized that I had 12 brothers". I couldn't agree more, it's about the people, and the fact that you get to live out your childhood dreams of flying jets a few times a week is just icing on the cake. Do you have specific questions? More than happy to answer, as I'm sure hoveringuy would be as well (who has much more experience than I do in Naval Air in general).
