    Home Depot Dremel Tool Kit

    revised.

want to know which model I should get. Looking to get somethign that can do minor body work such as cutting through bolts, screws, sanding maybe do small detailing work.

I know some people say I should stick to corded but I'm looking at the specs for cordless and their performance appears to be the same?

I have an older dremel. Does fine for the few things I use it for. I don't do a lot of small intricate crafty things mostly as a small grinder and cut off tool.

I'd grab the harbor freight one cause it's only like 10 bucks. See how that works then move up to a full dremel kit if needed.

well ideally i want one that can cut through small bolts. I restore a lot of furniture from time to time and one annoying thing is when people tend to tap screws or bolts onto areas that I need to separate and the best way is to cut straight through them.

DO NOT get the harbor freight one. It is absolutely horrible. I was trying to cut through thin metal and it would just stop turning. Took it back. I know its tempting because authentic Dremel prices are super high.

Edit: Have to stress it. DO NOT get the harbor freight rotary tool. I'm speaking from experience.
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

I've read as a general rule, don't buy anything electrical from HF.

okay, so I'm sticking with dremel for sure. now home depot offers a variety of kits and honestly, I can barely tell the difference between a dremel 4,000 and 8,000 and the prices are the same.

any advice on what to look for would be good. again, my main concern is if it can handle light body work. such as metal on metal contact with cutting through bolts and stuff.

I have the Autozone one. Pretty good for $20. Just get the bits from Home Depot because the ones that come with it are very brittle

Harbor frieght is garbage. I have one doesn't work. I really only bought it for the bits anyways. I would invest in a dremel. Worth the money if I your actually going to use it. I've used cheaper mini rotary tools, but nothing really compares to a dremel. Best constructed/reliable off the shelf, and for around 40-70 isn't to expensive

Dremel. My all-time favorite power tool, just the name gets my creative juices flowing. I have owned several of these tools and was excited to be offered the

^ the 300 is great, anything for more power I use a drill.

Sometimes at Lowes or at HD they have the additional bit kits and stuff for 50% off. The Ez lock cutoff tools are great and so are the carbide tips.

Otherwise I just buy the tiny drill bits and such from HF.

I got the ~$79.99 Dremel from Lowes, they incorrectly placed the product with a $44.99 price tag, so they gave it to me at that, I made up the difference with a few sets of their accessories. It's great. I also picked up the Blue Point air powered tool, I like it a lot as well for smaller areas.
