theres a lot of dealers right now putting a markup or adding bs add-ons to drive up the price so you cant really haggle due to the pure price policy. so i would wait a few months for the FRS. or you can pick up the BRZ which may be the better buy if you like the more luxurious features. i really like the twin cars and the optional choices they give you. im just hoping there will be a STI version sooner than later. this car sounds like a blast to drive and would literally be the next 240sx craze.
So I test drove a FR-S (FT86) today

I've wanted one ever since I saw the concept pictures listed above. I was kinda bummed out when they changed the design though. I still think its a solid starting point for some fun.
My school has a campus across the street from some Toyota managerial building. Saw a bunch of them couple months ago.

some cars can pull off black. the frs cannot. unless the car is a big boxy sedan (e38 ) i think black is a horrible car color. hides all the lines and contours of the car. which is not that bad for an e30 but absolutely atrocious for an frs. wow.

do i pull off being black well kershaw?Originally posted by HarryPotternot to be racist but i've had multiple african americans comment on how they love my car. I've seen pics of e30's rolling through africa with at least 15-20 africans on them with ak-47's. WILD. its in the african blood. Hope this wasn't too racist, forgive me as I am intoxicated.Comment

Japanese car, yes. Toyota in name. Subi did the main chassis, engine and suspension development.
I love the comparison pics to the old Zs. BRZ really does appear to have a lot of influences from that car. FT-86/BRZ is the new 240Z/E30. Here's hoping Subi wants to help me go racing in the SCCA!Ben

You either haven't driven a good jap sports car or you're a label slut. The japs made excellent sports cars and the FRS is a good step to getting back in to making some more. Supra is on its way back. Hopefully they will revive the MR2 too.sigpicComment

But if you must have Rear wheel Drive Jap wouldn't a Mazda or v6 Nissan be best? If not the genesis is clearly a better car the the scion (though not Japanese).
Genesis 2.0 makes 274 horse zero to 60 in 6.0
Scion makes 200 horse 0 to 60 in 6.2 seconds
The genesis is a more substantial car that has a higher build quality, better finished interior etc. and is heavier as a result, but still gets 31 mpg.
Better warranty
Rear tires are an inch and a half wider lol.
All this and its still $700 less. Really at the end of the day don't we all just want a big ole N/A motor though. For an extra $4k over the cost of the scion I would go with the 350 horse 3.8. 0 to 60 in 5.0.
I understand that there kinda different two different cars, but I think there more similar than different. I think scion is just playing off the hype that car should be priced a little lower to at least give a sensible person a reason to buy it over the genesis.I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

Doubt it, the MR2/MR-S didn't sell for shit in the states. It might sell better now with the resurgence of the weekend toy buyer market, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Toyota doesn't have any convertibles available right now though, so who knows what they might do.Comment
