It is a 1937 Chris Craft runnabout 17 foot. its a pre barrel back, but still considered one. bought it from a guy for a good price, stripped it entirely to just refinish the wood and call it a day. that wasnt the case.

stripped all the varnish off and a few of the floor planks were soft where they met the transom (rear frame). so the process started of taking all the floor boards off and tracing them to make new ones. all of the ribs and trusses were in kinda shitty shape do we also did those. the chine (where the sides meets the floor) had to redone. but the problem is that they do not make wood long enough to do it in one piece.

we started with a 4x4 and had to notch it by hand with a chisel and then had to glue it with a special wood glue/binder to make 2 pieces one. lots of work. its hard work. i need to get so more pictures up of it. currently the stain is on and we need to finish the varnish. if i recall we have about 8 coats on now and we need to do about 10. but you need to sand between everyone to get the orange peel out of it. by the time we are done, the texture should be glass.

Thought it would be fun to make the spine of this satchel by hand. No power tools, just a hand saw, hand planer and sand paper.

It was finished in oil for a gorgeous matte finish, I used the red stain sawdust to make the wood red(mixed with oil). Spine split while setting the second rivet...FML Took two hours sawing, planing and sanding.

It started out as a 3" wide piece, I cut it down then the width and drilled holes with a crank drill.


Seeing that split brought tears to my eyes, tomorrow I am making it on my table saw lol.

All of my stitching is done by hand, raises the cost from the extra time...but it will never fail like a machine stitch will.

Made this yesterday... I'm a beginner. This is my second project after a set of saw horses.

2x4 pine studs with dado joinery and screws, 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood glued and screwed together, and a steel top that only gets clamped on so i can screw into the plywood if needed. Thinking about adding a pegboard set up...

Did not feel like spending good money on something I can do in a few hours, I KNOW Tandy makes one(looks like garbage IMHO).

I made mine from a solid chunk of 3x3" Oak, I need to get smaller bolts thought I needed a longer one for the center...other than that it works AMAZING!










My bench is made from 2x4s, so the backing step attaches flush to the backside of the table and right to the top of the underside tabletop, that keeps the mounting bracket square and tight with just a single bolt.

That is leaps and bounds better than a Tandy stitching pony. Tandy sells overpriced dogshit for the most part. I bought some stuff there when I was experimenting with a few leather projects and I won't do that again. I still need to find a good local source for leather.

If you are talking about the box I built, yeah it came out pretty nice.

I think my next project will be to build some speaker stands for my Paradigm Monitor 9s. At 54 lbs each the cardboard boxes that they are sitting on now are starting to collapse. I'm not sure how elaborate I want to get with them since they will be largely unseen.
