        Started another deck job.

We are one of the main custom deck builders in upstate NY. You dream it we build it, so here is an 'add on' to a deck we built 6 years ago.

Adding an extension of 10' to an already current 10' expansion. Made a bridge for the middle and got all the joists set to the house. Next step is measure out 8' and dig three more holes for the last bridge.

New set of stairs to get down to the lake path deck. The house it being extended out to the end of the deck for a larger room and another bathroom(1 full and two half currently).

The view is unreal, no gas powered boats etc. Lake is natural and spring feed and never shocked. It is amazing.

Most of the work that has been done was below for cross member bracing and the stairs. Got rained out for 3 days straight. Going well so far haha

At this stage it will take a day or so to lay the top and hand railing. The deck pathway below is our work from many years ago.

Here is is another shot of the MASSIVE party deck. It is in the shape of a U. One side for docking boats and sunbathing(behind me while taking picture). Then the gazebo in the middle for food coverage and the grill pit to the right of it built into the bank. That pier out there is also connected and about 50' into the lake. We built all of it.

Kinda amazing seeing all the stairs and decking finished, so much work over the years.

Some of you probably saw these in my for sale threads, but for those who haven't.... I did several shifters over the spring. Taking a bit of a break from them for now, but will probably do some more in the laminated woods when the weather cools a bit.

Okay guys, let's see if you can help me with this. I have an antique bed that's in pretty good condition except for a few small flaws. Looking for some input on how to fix/improve them. There's a big ding at the top right (the right of the bed post), and on the front of the post there's a handful of smaller dings going down, as well as two long scratches - let me know if I need to point them out. What can I do about this?

These pics suck, but I think they show the issues well enough.

There is not much you can do without destroying the finish. Dings and scratches are sanded or filled and matched with stain. I do not suggest the latter as it will not match the grain.

Sanding level and matching the color is your only path.

I'm not too concerned about the finish since it needs to be redone anyway. Assuming it's going to be refinished, do I have any other options?

                          Comment

No, filler does not match the wood well when used as a top finish. I highly suggest a course sand paper to even it out and finish it with 240 grit. Then match the stain and crackle the clear coat to match.

Would take an afternoon to do it.

Off topic, but F34R upstate looks friggin beautiful. Good job on the deck. I've always been a diyer but something about construction just seems out of my hands.. and always have much respect for those who still carry this trade.
